Vehicle Detail
In l972 during my final year of college I started searching for my second Corvette to own. Several years prior I had purchased a 1964 but had to sell it for college expense at that time. A few years had passed and I was on the hunt for another Vette (Corvette fever they call it!). I found this Black 1968 Corvette in Wichita, KS and had several conversations with the owner"s Dad who informed me that his son was on his honeymoon and was advised to sell it before he came back and changed his mind! The Vette was amazing as he pulled it out of the garage, all shiny black with a set of Cherry Bomb Glasspack Mufflers rumbling loudly and I fell in love! The rest is history for the past 40 years and it has survived even during my 39 years of marriage and 2 children! Our 2 sons grew up around this Vette with their tricycles, bicycles & first cars (not my Vette)! When I bought the Vette it had approx. 32,000 miles on it & the seller was the second owner. Over the years we have been tempted to sell it due to not driving it very much. I am now letting it go as it has sat in my Mother-in-laws garage for the past few years as I ran out of garage space since we also own a l993 Dodge Viper, a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS & a 1956 Chevy Nomad and they keep us busy at car shows. I have a battery trinkler on the Vette and try to get over and start and drive it occasionally but it will need some work to make it road worthy again. The mileage is currently all original & documented at 62,927. The Vette has factory air conditioning ( changed over to the new freon several years ago), a removable hardtop convertible with 4 speed 327-350 horsepower engine. I have replaced the original carburetor & chrome cover with a Rochester (but save the old one in case I wanted to have it rebuilt). Many years ago I installed stainless steel caliber brakes but they may need to have the seals replaced as the car has sat too long. I also have some seat material that was bought in the l970's as there is a small tear in the driver seat that is barely visible. A new Diehard battery bought in 20l0 and new tires several years ago that have only about 100 miles or less on them. All the gauges work, except for the clock. The original radio works but only seems to get a few stations. The interior is nice & the original carpet is still intact but has wear (as shown in the pictures). The exterior is in need of a new paint job (again, as shown in my pictures). In l973 we drove the 68 Vette on our honeymoon to Colorado Springs where we got hail damage. Our insurance paid for a new paint job and it was repainted the original black color. With all this said, bid with the idea of giving it a new paint job, mechanical work & facelift in order to bring it back to the beauty that it deserves! This is a nice old original Corvette. I have all the paperwork relating to what I have spent on the car during the past 40 years in a notebook that will come with the sale. The Corvette sells as it, where is. It is sold without warranty. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. I highly recommend asking questions on EBay's "ask the buyer" option or inspecting the car in person at your convenience prior to bidding. Shipping or pickup is to be arranged and paid for by the buyer. A $l,000 non-refundable deposit can be made thru PayPal but final payment will not be accepted thru PayPal. A Certified Cashier Check from a bank is required or I will of course accept cash!
