I am the 2nd owner on a good condition original miles of 71,516 1982 Volkswagon Vanagon that needs some work. I got it started and ran it through all gears after I bought it a few years ago. The original owners moved from Southern California to Arizona in 2004 and registered it but it was not running because of the fuel injectors. Autocheck reports as potential odometer issues but they had already bought another vehicle and never got it fixed and it just sat in the garage on blocks when I saw it. I met them both (they were in there 70's) when I bought it. Cleaned off all the old window tint, got the fuel pump swapped out changed the fuel injectors and took out the mid cabin seat. Back seat is torn and front seats are torn also. Intended to fully restore but it got away from me with other projects. The body is real straight and it has virtually no rust, just some minor surface rust here and there. The rubber around the windows is worn and the windshield is cracked. Door slides perfect but needs handle on outside. The tires have good tread but are dated. The problem is an oil leak. Could be a simple fix or remove the engine to fix. When I got it running oil would drip at a pretty good rate around the oil filter. Therefore, I cannot let someone drive it away. It MUST BE SHIPPED or hauled away.
