Vehicle Detail
1970 Olds Vista Cruiser When the subject of original SUVs from the 70s comes up it usually comes up Station Wagons, and when wagons come up, most people first think of the Olds Vista Cruiser !! The last owner had this car for 35 yrs and subseqently lost the title since its been off the road so long. We address that more in depth below after all the pics So please read thru our whole description. Brady Bunch car !! LOW RESERVE - easy shipping from our sources Ill start by saying this cars been sitting for about 20 yrs here in AZ due to the automatic turbo 400 trans going south. From there it just sat in the Az sun in the desert that last 20 or so yrs of its life. Moisture I wouldnt say was its biggest enemy. As the AZ sun and some rodents living inside it was. Whoever buys probably just plan on doing a complete resto although the motor may still be okay and may come back to life with a little work. The radiator, alternator and fan are missing from under the hood, those are the most obvious things. This Vista has all the right stuff: more then powerful 455 4v A great original 70s color combo (Hunter Green w/ green interior and simulated wood) Vista Glass windows multi sunroofs with 3 row seating aka 9 passenger wagon. Putting $15K into a car like this STILL BEATS buying a new 30k car that will lose value each yr !! Its a great car to start a full resto, seeing as the rust is minimal, body in pretty good shape, with original complete drivetrain. Its rough and prob looks better in the pics then in person, but these are getting so much harder to find get one while you can, the prices on all 60-70s wagons are on the rise ! Car is original with the 455 4v motor and auto trans and which looks to be like a 12 bolt rearend in the back. Also had factory AC PS PDB / 2 way taillgate with PW too. Last time when the car was listed I got emails from other Pontiac enthusiast commenting on whether this car was a 455 motor or not. Below is some of the info gathered from that auction: Q: hi, trans is a 400 turbo and the motor is a 455. blue valve covers and the location of the washer tank on the passenger side wheel well are the first clues. if its a 1970 motor the letter on the head should be a J. this one appears to be a C or a G. G is a 72 engine C would be 69. the 350 engine would have a number on the head. A 70 motor would have a number 6. ...Still a good one though. We where going to try to start it so turned the motor over using a breaker bar first, no problem. We then drained the oil to see how bad it was, which it wasnt too bad really. Then I got sidetracked on more projects that came in and left it alone. Ive since put in new oil and next going to put on some used plug wires that are missing. Once that is done Im going to try to crank it and pour some gas down the carb and see what it does... (email me later this week for the results if I dont ad info to the auction by Wed.) I have 1 ignition key only for this car too. INTERIOR: sun beat and torn up, but mostly complete but restorable. This wagon is almost a Az barn find people on the eastcoast only wish they could find in their backyard, check out the lack of rust found in normal areas you may expect to see it. Some people may look at this car as a parts car, but its not that bad off and deserves to be restored. Check out the pics below LOTS OF PICS, it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain. Check out All the pics and then look for more info AFTER the pics etc. There are over 100, make sure you use the schroll bar on the side to see them all. There you have it, probably The BEST represented Wagon on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you liked the pics. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and junk. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. Or fly in and drive it home, its that reliable and clean. NO Title on hand, the last owner lost it and died.
