Vehicle Detail

NOTE.. Last three pics are of the original car when I bought it, not as it sits today....Super nice and clean 1968 Camaro with the Deluxe option Sold 6-3-68 in Irving Texas. This car was untouched until I got it a few years ago. It has about 92K original miles and is rust free. The underside is spotless of any rust or scaling, the white top I imagine has been replaced once. There is very minor scalling in a few spots under the top but its just paint starting to pop off, not rusty holes. It is a factory A/C car with California S.M.O.G. Car is rust free and has never been totally repainted, though it has had some 20-25 years ago. I was told it was sold in Texas with Cali smog and lived most of its life in Texas. I bought it from a Muscle car dealer in Dallas for 16,999 in stock condition. I added the functional cowl hood, 4 bbl carb and intake and the Muncie, car is a factory console car. The front end is tight and drives straight. New KYB shocks all the way around fairly new Coker redline tires. Rallys can use a repaint though. New dual 2.25 aluminized exhaust with flowmaster mufflers, I kept the factory exhaust manifolds on and plugged the smog air ports. This Camaro has a 10 bolt rear end with mono leafs, I have a new 3.73 Yukon gear set, new Auborn posi unit and new 4 wheel power disk kit with SS lines from SSBC as well as some other new parts included with the buy it now price, otherwise buyer has option to buy them. ENGINE: Car started out as a 327 2bbl with 210 HP. I rebuilt the engine last year and it has around 600 miles since rebuild. Engine is bored .030 over with HYPER speed-pro coated 2v relief pistons (9.2-1CR), double hump heads with 1.94 Stainless valves, lunati springs and guides cut for viton seals. Comp cams camshaft (268), true roller chain, 7 qt pan with windage tray kit added, std/std polished crank, king bearings, durabond cam bearings, shot peened rods with ARP bolts, EPS intake with a 600 Edelbrock electric choke carb. I also added a elctronic MSD points style disributor, accel coil and delco wires. It runs strong and I imagine its a solid 300-325 HP. This summer I put on a new weiand aluminum HV water pump and the Aluminum 327 Powder coated valve covers. Retains the factory 3 core radiator, 180 degree stat and thermo clutch fan, which is a HP option. The flapper is functional and has the correct cowl induction airbreather. TRANS: All Deluxe cars with manuals had a factory console and 3 speed saginaw. When I rebuilt the engine I added a stage 2 clutch from phenix friction and resurfaced the stock flywheel. I also added a Muncie 4 speed with a new hurst shifter kit. I seem to remember it being a M20. It doesnt makes noises and shifts smooth, it was rebuilt recently as well. INTERIOR and A/C: All is 100% factory to my knowledge with the exception of the steering wheel and floor mats. I put a used GM comfort grip on this year as the deluxe wheel was starting to crack. The dash is uncut and has the plate for ther am/fm radio. The dash has a minor crack in it where I accidently grabbed it while replacing the heater core. All heater controls appear to work and function fine. The A/C ducts were getting dry so I took them out and ordered the wrong size so they need replaced. I put a new expansion valve in and a new calibrated R134 POA valve as well new seals and drier. I belive the A/C will work when recharged as it was kicking in and out prior to me taking the lines off. There was still freon in the lines when I took them off. BODY: As mentioned car is pretty original and very rust free and have had a partial repaint many years ago. NOTE.(I dont know what the yellow stuff is under the car, its not rust. I think it was road paint). I added a functional cowl hood and the paint didnt turn out well, ready to spray duplicolor. The paint was cheap as it is just a temporary job to prevent rust. I have the factory hood in the shop and a new white top. I added the white strip upfront, its a decal and be taken off anytime. The body shows very well for an old original/repaint paint job. Car has no hidden bondo or panels anywhere to my knowledge. Every 1 Gen restoration shop agrees. It looks great in the pics or from 5 feet away but is starting to crack from the Cali and Texas heat. The paint shines and buffs up very very nicely. Remember they are only original once! This thing only has small surface rust on it, which is around the top and some at the rear top trim. The window channels are still tight and not rotted any. The under carriage is clean and rust free. To me this is as good as they get for a 1st gen Camaro to restore. Please ask any questions prior to bidding and dont bid if your not willing to pay. I am not looking for trades either. Car is titled in Alaska, but has never been driven there. I am in the Military and the car is back home in Kokomo Indiana. Camaro is secure and dry, in covered storage. It can be picked up after any checks clear or around 18 Dec if you would like to wait a few weeks. Dan 815-814-58twotwo. Car for sale on other sites, sale may end immediatly.
