1966 AMC Ambassador Wagon In the 50s and 60s the US was on a roll building interstates from the Atlantic to the Pacific. No better way for families back then to take a road trip then to hop in the wagon and head out. Everyone in the suburbs had a station wagon. American car builders where busy making vehicles to accomodate families on the move ! Here is a fine example of what American Motors had to offer in 1966.. their Cross Country well loaded !Check out some of the options on this beast.DRIVETRAIN: original 327 4v motor runs and drives decent for its age, as most older cars it could use a tune up. Under the aircleaner is a Holley carb, which I think is factory.Does have an exhaust leak near the manifold on one sidethat is rather noisy, think its a donut gasket. Some other options on this car are PS, PB and A/C.(some of the ac stuff is missing) . Because this car did sit for about 10 yrs, we needed to install a new fuel pump. Working on cleaning out the gastank this week. We are temp running the motor off a small gastank under the hood. In the rear, looks to be one of AMCs better rear diffs. The exhaust, not all that great, the new owner would prob want to dual a nice set of Magnaflows and full system.INTERIOR: original green down to the rubber floormats. Not restored, showing its age but most of it all seems to be there. Even has rare PW option. A few of the windows slide up and down by hand, possibly the rollers are missing off the tracks. Az has been a little hard as you may expect on a car this old. AMC had some nice chrome accents in their interiors too, pretty cool. Think it has Tilt wheel too. Windows look to be factory tinted. EXTERIOR: paint Lite Green looks to be all original. I see no overspray anywhere on the car, and the previous owner who has owned it for the last 30+ yrs tells me its original. A few bumps but nothing really bad. Chrome and stainless on the car is in amazing shape and I dont see anything missing. Supsension: feels okay for driving around, but its old and should be checked out before making it a driver. Being an Az car the floors and trunk etc are very clean with some surface rust. Mild rust on the dr side floor. This car has never seen a salt road. It wouldnt take a lot to restore it and in the end its only going to go up in value.
