CADILLAC ALLANTE a fabulous ultra- luxury roadster Offered here is one of two of the most fabulous roadstersever designed. The engine and running gear by Cadillac inDetroit, Michigan, and the body and interior in San GiorgioCanavase, Italy by Pininifarina of Farrari fame. The body was flown half way around the world from Italy andmated with the running gear in Detroit for the seven years thesetwo seater sports roadsters were made. ( 1987-93) They were Cadillac's first venture into the ultra-luxury sports carsdesigned to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL and the JaguarXJS. The developed 200 horsepower and provided more torquethan any other front wheel roadster in the world. The car offered here had a base price of $ 56.333.00 and only2569 of them were sold worldwide in 1988. . They were sold mainly to celebrities and the rich and famous .Many remain hidden in garages or car collections today. A number of them are being sold because theowners are aging and no longer driving. I purchased this car in Kansas City. The engine had a bad crank shaftbearing. The Odometer had 129.000 miles. Much work had been doneon various components of the car. Most of the switches and the Boseradio works. Instead of rebuilding the engine I located one in San Diego with 59K on itfrom a wrecked vehicle and brought it to Kansas City and installed it in thecar. The car has both the hard top and convertible top. I have never taken thehard top off. The tan interior is in good shape, however the console needssome attention as the plastic fiberglass is cracked. It can be easily repairedor one bought from a dealer . There are a few tears in the sides of the seatsbut all and all a little TLC will put the interior in top shape.The radio worksas do most of the power switches. I have not gone thru all of them. The car has a small rust spot on the rear wheel well and a dent under the frontbumper probably from parking. All easily fixable. The car basically has 59K on the motor. It ran fine. I drove it home, parked it andlisted it on Ebay. It set for several weeks. When the buyer came to drive it backto his home town, it would not start. I refunded his money. The car is back at thegarage and I will have it back shortly. The mechanic said- It's something simple. So here is another opportunity to buy a fabulous Cadillac luxury roadster, to drive daily,on cruise nights, or simply impress the neighbors. Not many of these on the street.In fact these are the only two I have even seen in Kansas City. The reserve is VERY low. I am selling my entire collection of classic cars and needto find good homes for these beautiful cars. This is a great car for father and son toplay with during the winter and get ready for the summer cruise nights, or drive daily. This car is impressing looking like a Mercedes. It's a beautiful bright red color with taninterior. Stops traffic.
