Vehicle Detail

1986 Chevy M1009 k5 Blazer 6.2 L diesel.... I have owned this truck for the last seven years and have a rather extensive history to share with the buyer. I also have the manuals for it, civilian and military manuals. ....I have no idea how many miles are on it, it reads in the range of 86,000 but its rolled over a couple times, Im sure, plus the speedocable is out. It has been converted to 12 v ... and has had the starter and generators changed to common 12 v parts... The truck runs on just one generator for the charging system... meaning there is a spare...another common problem that has been addressed is the glow plug circuit, the plugs tend to stay on even after the truck is started causing two issues... one the plugs burn up faster the other is that the plugs draw 120 amps constantly (I beleive, its been a while since thats been done) so they are wired into a switch so they are only on at startup. This truck was my daily driver for years... it gets 20mpg (I expect it to improve with an engine overhaul) ..It has been struggling lately though It needs to stop being my daily driver and become someones project... here is the low down on whats wrong with it.... and the flat tire is what finally made me realize I had to park it and give it a break. It will need three new tires asap... one has a slowleak, the other goes flat fast... recently I broke a starter bolt in the block and had it drilled out the mechanic said he got it tightened as much as he could but that it needed sleeved and retapped .... The Truck does start and run the bolt just gets loose very quickly then the bendix and the flywheel dont match up and it sounds terrible .This is a project car... but in my opinion an awesome one... really a little bit of wiring work(recently lost the blinkers) the starter bolt hole sleeved and tapped and tires and you can go.. after that its just a matter of improving preformance and things like a new speedocable, block heater... ect ..the front drive shaft is out in need of a new u joint also before you could go 4x4. I recently rewired the starting circuit... If you are interested please inquire!! Like I said lots of history! I would love to accept phone calls and tell you about when the flywheel had been replaced and when I replaced the front spindle and locking hubs....In my opinion these old military trucks are awesome and could go on forever... about three years ago I put carpet in and sprayed the floorboard down with rust inhibitor... really just as a precaution.. There was one spot starting to look bubbly but the body seems pretty rust free ((the tailgate has some rust)) I will make lots of pictures available to anyone who asks but in the pictures is some damage to the fender on the passenger front and the rust on the tailgate and then the ripped drivers seat and dirty interior ... Feel free to come see it in person though for sure! dragonharness Store
