1979 Honda CBX

One previous owner on a 1979 CBX1000. A friend of mine found this for me while he was traveling, he sat next to the owner while on an airplane trip to Houston. My friend ended up driving his rental car out to look at his vintage Oldsmobile car collection and discovered this CBX and a part bike CBX while he was there. I ended up calling the seller weeks later and ended up buying both. This bike (his original) with 9,622 original miles on it when I bought it is in very nice condition. He bought it new from Haydens Honda Center in Texas in October 1978. Real nice gentlemen that had some good memories about the bike to share with me. I could call him right now and get answers if anyone has any questions I cannot answer. I believe both the bikes had been sitting in his garage untouched for a long time. After I got them here to NV I swapped out the carbs with a rebuilt set and had them synced by my friend who is retired and was a certified Honda mechanic for years. (see picture). Previous owner had the gas tank, front fender and rear cowel painted at one time due to the Texas sun fading the red paint and I swapped them out for a Silver set I have, everything else is original. I have only put about 90 miles on it since acquiring it and runs and idles good. Probably will need a valve adjustment to dial it in. All turn, brakes, horn, stop lights work as they should. All brakes have been gone through and new fluids added. Oil and filter changed. Tires have good tread but will need to be changed if any long traveling planned. Battery is new also. I bought a seat cover on eBay for it but decided to leave off as the recover he had done previously has no tears or problems and you could recover if desired. The headlight bucket has a small flaw that has been repaired (see picture). The exhaust had some surface rust at the headers and I tried eliminating it but has started to blue on two pipes from to much buffing. Also, the exhaust is original and the baffles were starting to rust out so I added 2 Vance & Hines baffles to the rear of the exhaust pipes and the bike sounds incredible!. There is some minor scuffs on the right side of the exhaust as shown and a small dent on the top left side.The needle tip on the volt meter is broke but it still works and there is some typical pitting around the gauge bezels I have left alone. The gas tank has some minor scratches and has a minor dent on the left side near the seat. The frame has no rust and the only real place there is any surface rust is on the headlight bracket and seat bolt brackets, but it is very minor. The picture that shows the top of the gas tank has the reflection of the clouds in it. It is a very nice original Honda Silver gas tank with no issues inside and a new petcock. There could be a counter sprocket/shaft seal that needs to be replaced eventually as it has a real small leak right after running. I probably left something out so if you have any questions please ask prior to bidding. I am more than happy to answer all questions or send more pictures if needed.
