1940 rare rare LaSalle Caddy Coupe. Most of you know this body style from the Chevy coupes that have been restomodded for years and that was my plan until I was informed that this car is ultra rare and have decided to let a collector enjoy this pristine example of GM history. I have been informed by the Caddy and LaSalle Club that this car has some things that are not original so I will list what I can I know about the car. We build and restore cars but my knowledge is limited to 1950s and up, so no questions about what is and isnt original because I truly have to go by whats in front of me. The Good.... This has been a SC car all of its life from the records we have.It was in a collection that consisted of 23 cars in a climate controlled showroom from a individual that passed away several months ago. The car has had a repaint at sometime and they did a good job(Not show quality but damn good).The under carriage is original and has no rot or rebraced areas as you will see in photos. The fenders ect are extremely nice and other than a little rust(surface) around the beak of the hood, there is none I could find. The interior has been redone and is near perfect and as you will see in the photos, the trunk area is nice as well. The car starts and drives fine. It is super quite and drives very nice. It has had a set of digital gauges installed in the hideaway area of dash where a radio typically would be. It has had a electric fuel pump installed as well. All lights work and even original push button start works great. The chrome has been completely redone and is in great condition. Any of you who have restored a old car with this much chrome know this is thousands of dollars that has already been done. Tires are 100% and we are doing a full tune up and refreshment on upper engine. The car is super nice! I have the original wire hub caps in the trunk as you will see in the pics. I just dont have the heart to cut this one up for a custom as it truly is a one of kind find and needs to go to a collector and not sit here as a temptation(lol).The body lines are just awe inspiring and it has a presence all its own. The Bad. Not much to say here other than the trunk latch looks like someone broke a key in it. It has been removed and is in the trunk. The car is a 1940 so its not a new car but for one that has never been taken completely down, it is the most beautiful unrestored car I have ever seen. 1940 was the last year of the Lasalle and this was one of the last coupes to come off the line. It is truly a one in a million find and as collectors will tell you, chances like this dont come along every day. I am open to offers and partial trades are always considered. We at Otto's Garage and Customs are a full restoration shop with projects from every stage to full completion. Inspections are welcome and some cars end early as they are also offered publicly.
