Up for sale is my 2004 Toyota 4 Runner sport edition. It has just over 155k miles and hasn't skipped a beat since new. I bought the car for my wife used from a Toyota dealer in the spring of 2004 with 14k miles. It was Certified Pre-Owned by Toyota and had an extended warranty to 100k. It has always been dealer maintained, although I haven't really had any problems with it. They replaced the tensioner and idler pulleys and serpentine belt at about 90k. Also all four calipers and pads were replaced around 75k. The sun roof motor was replaced as well. This was driven by my wife, she is 60 years old. The oil has been changed every 3-4k since I bought it. The tires are around 75% tread left. I have never towed with this although it does have a factory Toyota hitch and is wired for trailer lights. The 4wd system in this car is the best I've driven in the snow; you can go 50 with 6 inches in the road and not even know it. The traction control works flawlessly, and the vehicle stability control is amazing you can start to slide and it will grab brakes to correct and put you back in a straight line. The 4wd high and low engage and disengage perfectly. The Sport Edition came with a few things that the SR5 and Limited didn't. X-RES Suspension. This is Toyota's try at a performance suspension that still rides good, the corners of the car are linked together in an 'X' so when you are going around a right hand corner fluid from the right front is pumped to the left rear and from right rear to left front. This helps to keep the car more level on hard cornering. Bigger brakes, the Sport's have bigger brakes, than the SR5 and Limited all the way around. This increases towing capacity. DAC -- Downhill Assist Control. This is more of an off road thing than anything else. When you are in low range and going down a hill you hit the button and it holds that speed. 2004 was the last year of the higher horse power motor. This 4.0l has 245 hp, after 04 they dropped the HP rating back to 236. My wife still gets 22 in the summer and 20 in the winter with this.
