Up for sale is my 1978 Triumph Spitfire. I have owned this vehicle for 2 years now and unfortunately i don't have much time or space for it anymore. I must note that the millage to the vehicle is unknown and i have not been able to track it past the previous owner, but if you are looking for a mechanically sound, drive anywhere fun car to drive this is it. This Spitfire is equipped with the 4 cylinder motor from triumph with the dual carburetor set up on it. From what i was told from the previous owner and through my research this is the original set up. Between december of 2009 and april of 2010 the vehicle received a 46 point inspection to establish a baseline repair plan for the following areas. Brakes: new pads and slotted front disks were installed with new hoses, drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders. Suspension: the rear transverse spring, shocks,and all bushings along with alignment of the vehicle. Engine: shake and bake block and head, hone and check taper, warpage stress cracks etc, install new rod/main bearings, pistons,rods,rings new seals all around hardened seats in the cylinder head along with all new fluids hoses and period correct paint and hose clamps. Transmission: rebuild OD unit, install new OD shifter and cable assembly, along with new blocker rings, shift pads syncro sleeves, dogs, bearings, and seals. Ignition and Fuel : installed all new ignition components. points, cap, rotor, plugs,wires etc. Both SU carburetors were rebuilt sealed and oiled Some additional modifications that were made to the vehicle include a new Moma steering wheel, new DRL light system push button ignition new convertible top, horns,stereo system with single disc CD player and other small items that the vehicle needed. as you can see in the photos i do have some of the original components to the vehicle As far as rust goes there is only minimal surface rust on the lower suspension parts. I have determined that the car has been repainted at some point and to make it a PERFECT car it could used to be block sanded and resprayed. It dose show some wrinkling in some ares, but if you just want to be able to drive this enjoy it and have fun this is it in the british vehicle market SInce i have owned the vehicle i have preformed various checks to insure all this work was done and done correctly cylinder compression and leak down are almost perfect with no ring blowy valve seals leaking etc. All lighting and horns work ( yes even with the lucas electronics ) The car drives down the road great and is truly a very fun car to drive. Vehicle comes with all paper work i have along with CD of photos of the restoration i received from the previous owner.
