Vehicle Detail
This is a 1963 Mercedes 190DC diesel fintail that I have owned for almost 4 years. I am reluctant to sell it, but it needs to go to a good home. I need my garage space and I don't drive that much to keep insurance on it. Mechanically the car is in a great shape. When I first bought this car, it was not running. I have spent a lot of money to make this car road worthy. Here is the list of what I have done 1- New generator April of 2009 2- New glow plugs and sensors 3- New clutch and clutch master cylinder in 2010 4-New drum brakes in 2010 5- New tires in 2011 (they have less than 800 mile on them) 6- New or rebuilt voltage regulator 7-new bulbs for the instrument cluster 8-Had the tail lights and brake lights fixed 9- new battery 10- Fresh oil and filter change July 2012 In four years I probably put about 3000 miles on it. (this car shows 94700 on the Odometer, but am sure it has more since it has a 5 digit odometer) This car runs very well, starts right up even in cold weather; it has a 4 speed column shifter and is a joy to drive. It has a 55 horse power 1.9 liter diesel engine. These cars are famous for their durability and were used as Taxi cabs in many countries. Parts are fairly accessible. The best part about this car is that I have never seen another W110 chassis Mercedes such as this one on the road. I have seen the coupes and convertibles, but not the 4 door sedans. It is absolutely a head turner. When I drive it on a sunny Sunday on the highway (Say 270 south on the right hand lane of course because of 70 MPH top speed. I usually drive it up to 60MPH. see photo), I see other drivers slow down on purpose and check out my car and give me thumbs up. It's like that this car is from another planet. LOL. This car is not a showroom quality car. Of course it won't be at this price, (I saw one sold on eBay for $28000 in absolute showroom condition in 2010). It is just a good car that takes you back to sixties and seventies. The original clock still works, High beam for the headlights work, horn works but sometimes it honks on its own, so I got it disconnected. The turn signals do not work. Radio does not work. The gas gauge does not work (I just fill it up every 250 miles), All of the lights, including tail lights, license plate lights, brake lights do work. All of the locks on the doors and trunk work properly, windows go up and down, windshield wipers work, underneath of the car is very nice and clean (It looks like a 10 yr old car, not 50). This car was repainted about 8-9 years ago. At the end, you will be disappointed If you are looking for a perfect 50 yr old classic Mercedes in a showroom condition. But if you are looking for a very inexpensive classic Mercedes that runs well and has an eye catching look to it, then you will be impressed. My name is Dean and I can be reached at 614-204-1106.
