Just to clarify - the "accident" in the carfax report was an accident with a bicycle in 1999, with minimal damage to the car. The guy on the bike rode into the front left fender while the car was at a stoplight. Up for sale is my beloved e30. I have had this car since 1999 when it had just crossed 100K miles. Unfortunately it is time to go, as I need to downsize my life a little bit. This car has been a weekend car for the past 4 years, getting driven about 2000 miles per year. It is very reliable, and I would have no second thoughts about taking it on a long road trip, however keep in mind that it is 25 years old and things can always go wrong. About the car: Since retiring from daily driver status 4 years ago, every system in the car has been gone over and worn parts were replaced with new factory parts from BMW including all rubber hoses and bits. I keep a spreadsheet of everything done to the car since 1999, along with the in-service restoration that was done over the past 4 years. Over $10,000 was spent on parts alone. 3 inch binder full of receipts. Suspension, Steering & Brakes: Every suspension link and bushing has been replaced. The shocks were replaced with Bilstein Sports along with heavy duty e46 shock mounts. H&R sport springs. e30 M3 rear sway bar. Factory aluminum M3 control arms with factory offset solid bushings. Steering rods are new. OEM 15x7 basketweave wheels wearing properly sized Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires in 205/55 15. The handling of this car is tight and as good if not better than a stock M3. The brakes are fresh at all 4 corners. All rubber lines were replaced with stainless steel braided lines and the hard lines were rusted and so they were replaced with OEM parts as well. The pedal is firm and easy to modulate. Interior: Upgrades to the stock Recaro sport seat interior are as follows – maplight rearview mirror, OEM M-technic door sills, new floor mats, smaller than stock diameter m-technic steering wheel from the M3, 1-piece M3 shift knob and boot with lighted shift pattern, auxiliary gauge console. The A/C blows cold. Exterior: European ellipsoid headlights were added along with the m-technic I rear spoiler (similar to M5/M6 of the era). I have the original rear “is” spoiler. Bumper shocks from an 88 e30 were fitted in order to tuck the bumpers into the body so they don’t stick out as much. The car was re-sprayed 2 years ago and it was a quality job however it’s not perfect when you get very close. There is some paint bubbling on the driver’s side cowl where the windshield meets the body. The left front fender is not original, but the other panels are original to my knowledge. There is also some rust repair by the license plate lights that is not perfect. Engine & Drivetrain: The only mods are a Dinan chip and 8mm ignition wires from Bavarian Autosport. The engine is original with 208K miles and burns a quart of oil every 800-1000 miles depending on how you drive the car. The valves were recently adjusted and the timing belt was changed at 190K miles. A full tune-up (plugs/cap/rotor/oil change/coolant flush) was done this past spring. The engine has good compression, plenty of pep and loves to rev. The transmission is original and the second clutch has some chatter in neutral. I have new clutch components in a box that will go with the car however there is still life on the clutch, as it was replaced at 130K miles. The shifter bushings were replaced with OEM parts and make the shifting feel nice and crisp. There is no grinding or popping out of gear or anything out of the ordinary. The 3.73 limited slip differential works well. If you are local (NY metro) and want to see the car and test drive it, contact me and we can arrange something.
