Vehicle Detail
First and foremost, I do not want to sell this bike. It is my favorite toy. I am in a tight situation right now and need the money. My reserve is $700. I wont take any less (please dont ask), and I wont end the auction early unless you show up at my house with $700 cash. I have over twice that amount in it. Sorry if this sounds rude but I get so sick of people making scrap price offers on here. I bought this in april, and it was a filthy basket case. I put it back together stock to see if it ran good before I put any money into it. I replaced a bunch of parts, gaskets, rode it around my block a few times, then tore it apart to build a scary, loud, low budget bobber out of it. Heres a few things I did before I started it. I have pics of all my work.... 1. One of the carbs had a stripped air / fuel mixture screw and they mutilated the carb body. I bought a rail of carbs that were almost seized, and took the body off that rail and put on mine. Then I disassembled them and cleaned them and put new bowl gaskets and one new air / fuel screw. They still need synchronized but I got them close enough to ride it around my neighborhood a few times. 2.Replaced oil and filter, clutch cover gasket, shifter cover gasket and shiter seal, air filter, battery, went through the clutch (replaced the outer disk, the rest were decent, the outer was starting to seperate), fixed and soldered a few bad spots in the wiring harness where the airbox had rubbed through it, I cant remember everything Ive fixed on this bike. My goal was to build it to look awesome from 10 feet away for less than 2 grand. I think I came close to accomplishing that. Its far from perfect, there are nicks and blemishes etc., but it looks great from 10 feet away. lol. I stripped the frame and cut it behind the shock mounts, folded it around and welded it in then smoothed it, made a set of solid struts to drop the back as far as possible. . . ground off the h stand tabs, rear peg mounts, seat and airbox tabs, etc. Then I scuffed the frame with scoch brite pads and shot it with a coat of primer and flat black rustoleum. Dont laugh, its pretty durable and covers well for cheap paint, plus if you scratch anything you can go to walmart, buy a rattle can of it, spray it into a cap and use a small brush to do touch up. While the motor was out, I used 2 dozen scotch brites and 2 cans of carb and choke cleaner to get most of the factory silver paint, grease, and dirt off the motor (over 30 hours cleaning just the motor), its not perfect, but looks good from 10 feet, which was my goal.. It will need the tank and battery box painted, wiring harness put on, front brake needs rebuilt, spokes need cleaned and clearcoated, they are a little rusty. Also, I cut up some handlebars and welded them together to make a straight set to move it around and to see how I liked the look of them, I would not use them for riding. The tires seem to have decent tread, didnt notice any dry rotting, but havent really looked at them very close. I was planning on using them to ride around town on, but not on the highway. To cover my own butt, I will say that these tires need replaced, if you want to use them, you assume all liability for that decision. And I was gonna put a set of chrome headlight mounts, short rear fender, and pan seat on it, but I didnt get around to buying those yet. I was also planning on eventually buying pod filters, for now I was planning on using the tubes out of the airbox as velocity stacks. The title says this bike has 18000 miles, but theres an odometer discrepancy. I dont know why it says that, the odometer on the bike said 18000 miles too. No guarantee, but I have seen the inside of this motor and it is super, super clean so it wouldnt surprise me if the odometer and title are correct. The heads on these DOHC motors had oil passages that run through the head gasket, along the edge of the head. The edges of these gaskets tend to allow oil to seep out around the edge of the head gasket. That doesnt mean the gasket is blown, it just lets oil trickle out. Since this was a low budget build, I did not want to replace the gasket just for an oil leak. I was planning on doing what most people do and tuck cotton roap in the fins. Google it, this is very common with these. I also have a bunch of extra parts to go with this bike, forks and triple tree with older model brake assy and fender. Extra parts like turn signals, horn, rear fender, wiring, old fairing and hard bags, front and rear rim, clutch basket and a couple new disks, seat, old style oil tank that I wanted to put on this bike but I didnt have time to modify the frame for it, and a gas tank I bought, its clean inside, I think it came off of an older cb, 550 ? not sure, just liked the look of it. ill include a pic of the bike with it on. Im sure Im forgetting stuff, any questions just ask. Buyer pick up only, no shipping. $100.00 deposit through paypal within 24 hours, remaining cash upon pickup. No warranties expressed or implied.
