Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice Cafe Racer I bought two years ago. I have hardly ridden it (less than 100 miles) because I need something with a more upright riding position. Too bad, because this is a beautiful bike, really almost a piece of art, and I have enjoyed owning it! It has a great look, an aggressive stance, and it gets compliments every time I have had it out. The guy who built it is named Steve Carpenter a/k/a Carpy out of Orange County California. He is pretty famous in the Cafe Racer world and has done a number of high end bikes featured in magazines and purchased by well known musicians (Green Day, etc.) His old website, which originally listed this bike, can be found at: http://www.cb750cafe.com/_OLDSITE/bikes.php?cat=25&id=93 . As noted in his webpage, the following were added to the bike as it was rebuilt: New clubman bars New turn signals New flasher unit New GT grips New battery New Battery strap New fuse box New ground strap Rebuild carbs New intake manifolds Stainless clamps New Pod filters New throttle cables New Clutch cable New Right hand control switch New left hand control switch New levers New header pipes Custom finned oild filter housing New oil pressure gauge; Drilled front rotor New braided brake line New ignition switch and key Detailed starter cover Polished K5 triple tree Tach elimination kit Single speedometer setup Rebuilt and polished master cylinder Polished and rebuitld front caliper with stainless piston Hammered tank w/ new gas cap and latch Rocket 4 seat and pad Cool rocket tail light. When I got it I put on a new chain, gear shift cover gasket and put in a new Classic Cafe Tri-Bar headlight (that also came from Carpy's store). I just put in a new battery a few weeks ago. I must have gone over a bump too hard because there is a crack in the headlight, but the light still operates fine. I also replaced the petcock, but before I did so some gas dripped onto the 'Ace of Spades' decal above the gear box and it is now faded. There is no center stand, which I believe was done for the cafe conversion and no kick start. When Carpy converted the bike to a Cafe Racer, he switched out the gear shifter so now it is 1 up and 5 down and not vice versa, which I understand this was common for racers in the day and was probably necessary because of the custom pegs he put on. This is a very nice looking bike, but it is not show quality and it is priced accordingly. Like all CB750s it starts and runs great. I am a CB fan and have owned a several from the mid 1970s. I regret having to sell this because it really is cool looking, nice running bike, but I really need something that fits my riding style. I will probably buy another CB750, but just not cafe racer. I am going to try and upload a video of this bike doing the "ton" (100 mph), but I am not the best with tech, so it might take a couple days. I will likely list this bike locally, so I reserve the right to pull the ad early if I get a local buyer. This bike is being sold "as is" without any warranty. If you have any questions, please send them my way and I will get back to you promptly.
