Vehicle Detail
I drive this Bus to work almost every day, and we have gone camping with it as a family several times. It's an awesome usable early bus, which gets thumbs up all day long and puts a smile on my face every day. And it's always a pleasure to load up and take out driving with my wife and daughter. We regretfully have to sell it to pay off some debts, otherwise we would keep it for a very long time. If it does not sell on Ebay, I plan on doing some of the easy repairs that the bus needs, and relisting it. WE ARE WILLING TO DISCUSS DELIVERY WITHIN THE USA FOR A FEE. PLEASE MESSAGE ME TO DISCUSS THIS OPTION. The good: -1776cc engine (single 34pict carburetor, doghouse fan shroud and oil cooler, 12V conversion with alternator, fully functional HOT heater) -Rebuilt RGB transmission (about 2 years ago) -Bay window back seat -Clean interior with custom wood paneling and headliner (amateur home made interior panels) -Original floor throughout the bus, with only a few tiny holes in the front floor (two holes smaller than a dime) -Has seat belts installed- 2 up front and one in the rear seat. -most of the electrical works perfectly, (the only thing wrong is that the dome light does not come on with the switch on the column) -It has a bay window front beam, which raises the front an inch or so for off roading, uses cheaper and more available braking components, and offers a very smooth ride. -14" Baywindow Bus wheels with off road/ all terrain tires - it climbs up dirt roads like a Jeep! -One key works for all doors, with a second key for the ignition. -Comes with a cool Bendix radio, which has black knobs that match the VW dash knobs perfectly. Radio came out of a 60s Volvo 122S. The bad: -There is past accident damage on the driver's side behind the cargo doors. The rearmost cargo door hinge on the driver's side shows this. The damage has been repaired, but not correctly. The door functions properly, but the repair shows in the door jamb when you open the door, and the outside is somewhat wavy on that big quarter panel. If you want to put a fresh paint job on this bus, you will have to do some work to that area. I've shown the worst of that damage, please inspect the pictures and message me for more details if you need them. -it has a few small rust holes in the rain gutter areas, 2 about the size of a quarter. But it has not rusted down into the roof shelf. It's very minor and easily repairable. The bus comes with a rain gutter repair section in case you need it for the repair. -Heater control cables are not hooked up, but the Bus does come with 2 new cables and it has all the parts it needs to make it work. -The dash has been cut for a slightly larger 2 post radio. But it does come with a Volvo Bendix radio installed. (no speaker, just the functioning AM radio) -One cargo door recently stopped locking with the key - I believe the door mechanism needs to be taken apart and cleaned, because it used to work a few weeks ago. I'm a very honest seller and will not hide anything about this bus. I feel like I am asking a fair price, but I am willing to hear any feedback. Just please consider that I am being very open about details that many other sellers would not discuss. Feel free to message me if you want to see anything specific, or if you want to discuss the Bus details over the phone. Sorry, roof rack and rear bumper overriders are not included. There are more pictures online, just message me to find out where. This is a very solid and rust free early VW bus. It would be a fairly easy restoration, having most of its original parts and sheet metal. Or it'd make a fantastic driver to take to car shows, camping, or even as a work truck. There are no major mechanical problems, and all that it should need in the future are brake adjustments, tune-ups, and general vintage vehicle maintenance. Happy bidding, and GOOD LUCK!
