Vehicle Detail
1982 Mercedes Benz 380SL Fair Low Reserve / BID IT TO WIN IT 380 SL Convertible w/ factory Hardtop great Mercedes color combo 9,926 built for 1982 / sporting almost 220 hp stock the last owner had the car for about 13 yrs and keptit up the maintance well mechanically but the car still has some small issues. The car was recently driven on a road trip from Phx to Napa Valley Ca with no issues. About 20k miles ago the Timing chain was done too. Not sure if it was converted to double roller but the prev owner is trying to find all of their receipts for the car. The car was always maintained by a shop in Scottsdale AZso my guess all repairs in the last several yrs where done to the best upgrade possible. A great car to drive in town and more fun on the hwy.I seriously considered keeping the car and do some 80s mods to it (IE: AMG bodykit, drop springs and rims)Maybe if it doesnt sell, I still will and make it my daily driver. We've only had the car a few weeks, but it runs anddrives great. Its fun to take out and gets looks and compliments wherever you go.The interior is nice, but Az has made the leather a little hard. Some Hide food or good leather conditionerwould probably bring them back pretty nicely. Most everything works the best I can tell so far but cant figure out how the dashlites come on. Also cant figure out how to actually lock the doors, but the car comes with 3 different keys. Aftermarket CD player works well and has some nice 6x9s behind the seats. The A/C has a BRAND NEW $500 rebuilt unit with clutch but didnt get around to re-charging it yet since the weather is cooling off.The AC worked fine before we installed the new compressor it was the clutch making some minor noise which prompted us to install a new unit. The car does make a little noise ie minor noise in the suspension coming from the back once in a while. Exterior: Paint is really nice, no evidence of previous damage or body work or overspray. It could be original, not sure. There are a few blemishes as you may expect from a car this old. The car looks great in pics, and almost as nice in person.Glass all good and windows dk tinted. Chrome on the car inside and out is in GREAT shape, no pitting. Factory chrome alloy wheels in nice shape too W/ Almost NEW Pirelli Tires too !! Didnt see rust anywhere else that was worth reporting on that you cant see in the pics below. The chrome is still actually very nice for its age.Not 100% sure what all small parts are missing. See for yourself, we have over 100 pics below !! Let them ALL load before try to view them. I WONT END THE AUCTION EARLY SO DONT ASK But if it doesnt meet the reserve, email me if you want to try to make a deal. This is our first SL we have sold on ebay but far from our first car !! Keep checking back during the auction, going to try to add some more pics of the VIN and with the Roof OFF. If you are in the market for a classic German car from a nice dry rust free climate, this is the car you probably want. Tucson is a desert and our cars last a long long time :) At least the metal does (rubber and paint, not as well) If it doesnt meet reserve, email me if you want. Either way it would be a great car to own. Probably The BEST represented SLs on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad. If you treat yourself to buying one of our cars, youll never buy a bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Fully operational condition to make shipping cheaper and easier. We have a good shipping source too if you need help there. Clear AZ TITLE in Hand ! CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 13 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. This car, you can see clearly what to expect with no surprises and our Feedback speaks for itself ! EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !! IF you need a shipping quote, just email us with your city/state and Ill find out our best quote for you !! If there is a winner, please email me when the auction ends and say Hi and we can take it from there. I bank with B of A which makes things easy for many out of state for payment. direct deposit or Cashier checks must clear before car can move. Its a sign of the times, sorry. NO PAYPAL, sorry. Must be paid within 4 working days of auctions end. On Oct-09-12 at 23:32:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I noticed one thing about the car that I wanted to mention.Every once in a while when you hit the key to start it, the startersounds like its not engaging the flexplate right on. So you geta grind noise. It seems to happen about once out of every 5 or6 times you go to start it. The car always starts, but you hearthat noise every so often. Figured it was worth mentioning. Ive been around cars my whole lifemy main business is that of selling car accessories forlate model cars and trucks.I do mild restorations on older cars from time to timewhen I have the time or extra money. This cars not been restored, but we traded a 65 Tbird forthis and dont have alot of money in it, and Im not tryingto get rich off it. Just trying to get out of it what I wantedto get out of the Tbird I had. I admit, its worth alot morethen what my reserve is.This car was never restored, but just driven once in a while the last 15 yrs. Still buying the car from a privateindividual. The inner panel (RR Inner) does have some sort of hole there, butI dont know if its stock or not, I thought a wire went thruthere for the rear window defroster, not sure.Keep in mind its still a 30 yr old Benz , and not a trailerqueen or anything. You cant see all the details in the picswe put up, but we try to show as much as possible.Dont expect perfect, just a fun clean driver that may needsome minor work Im not aware of.
