Up for sale is a beautiful piece of vintage American/British History. Currently Registered in the state of California until April 2013. This 1962 Nash Metropolitan is an eye catcher and head turner! People LOVE this little car, they smile, wave, thumbs up, and spontaneously stop to chat about it. Everywhere this car goes there's a crowd of people to appreciate it. Its fun to drive, and it gets a lot of attention. It has a recent Orange and White two tone paint job, Original 1500 Austin Healey 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed column shift, RWD. This vehicle is being re listed because it did not reach the $5000 reserve. i have lowered the reserve price. The History:I purchased the car from a friend of mine 4 months back, it was in the middle of a Father-Son do-it-yourself restoration. The car had some issues when I purchased it. It needed a Brake and Fuel Flush, it had some electrical problems that prevented it from starting. I took the car to my mechanic to perform what was necessary to get the vehicle started and running again. The Cosmetic:It seems that the chrome is all original, they didn't get around to the chrome work but it looks good for it's age and has a little patina. The seat is a metropolitan seat but it is upholstered brown and not black. The seat has a hole in the back of the seat on the passenger side, the front side looks great. It has a couple holes in headliner that have been taped closed with clear tape. The Mechanical:The car starts right up and runs like a champ. My mechanic said the engine sounds and runs great. He drove the car and says he was a little upset because it drives as nice as his completely restored Metropolitan. He said it runs and drives exceptionally well for a 50 year old automobile. A few things I noted while driving: the speedometer doesn't work, my mechanic said it needs a cable. The odometer doesn't work either but that is also due to the bad speedometer cable. The factory radio doesn't work, but does power up, my mechanic says he thinks it needs a speaker. The heater doesn't work. Other than the small stuff the car drives great from A to B. When i had the compression check performed my mechanic informed me that he suspects the engine to have been rebuilt due to the compression numbers being so high.
