Vehicle Detail

That's right, this 76 GMC C3500 Sierra has only 12,199.5 ORIGINAL miles! For most of the past 36 years this vehicle was used to deliver aviation fuel to airplanes at the Sanford Airport in Sanford, ME. A friend of mine (I am listing this for him) acquired the vehicle some time ago with hopes of a restoration project. The old rusty aviation fuel tank was removed, and a few new parts were purchased, but that's about as far as he got. So, it will now go to the highest bidder! This truck has an I6 engine (I think it's the 4.1 liter, which are known to be long lasting) and 4 speed manual transmission. The transmission has a low gear plus 3 forward speeds and 1 reverse. It also has a working PTO which is driven by a knob selector in the cab (previously used to run the fuel pump). The steering column needs to be replaced as the key no longer works in it (starts with a screwdriver) but a replacement column with a key has already been purchased and is included with the sale (pictured). The truck also does not have a battery but starts easily with a jump. The interior is (not surprisingly) in need of some attention. The doors are a little loose on their hinges but still function ok. The glass on the doors also needs to be resealed, and the drivers side window does not roll down. There is an audible belt squeal when the steering wheel is cut all the way to the right or left. The heater core also needs to be replaced (currently it has been bypassed so the heat will not work until this is remedied). Most of the gauges do not work with the exception of the Speedometer/Odometer, Fuel gauge, and voltage meter. All the lights on the front are working but the rear lights were removed and have not been replaced. The rear axle is very heavy duty (see pictures) to handle over 5,000 lbs of fuel. Had a mechanic take a quick look at it, said "she runs great". You will also notice the exhaust goes out the front of the truck. This was set up as required for an aviation fuel truck. Clutch and brakes work great. Water pump was replaced not too long ago. We have the ability to tow this vehicle on a trailer and are willing to work out transporting it to you for a fee. We will be attending an auction in Scarborough, Maine (near Portland) on October 11th and can also arrange to meet the buyer there with the truck. This truck can certainly be driven in its current state but keep in mind that it is an antique vehicle with a non-highway friendly gearing before you plan on taking it any great distance. In the state of Maine a title is not required for vehicles being sold that are over 15 years old. That being so, we do not have a title but will be providing a Maine BMV bill of sale to the buyer. Here's a few videos of the truck in action: http://youtu.be/V_szueiIfKQ http://youtu.be/KFM0ucosQtM - The chattering sound you can hear while the truck is being driven is due to the passenger side door and window being loose. As mentioned above, the seal between the door and the cab is not in good shape and it could use new hinges. Note that this video was taken on a bumpy road and although there is some noise from the door the suspension is in good shape. The rear axle is also rather "bouncy" as it is set up for hauling but does not currently have any weight on it. GMC Chevy Chevrolet C3500 C35 3500 Dually On Oct-08-12 at 20:45:18 PDT, seller added the following information: One other note - one of the quarter door windows (IE the triangular glass part of the door) has a crack in it. Not sure if you can see that in the photos. On Oct-09-12 at 08:20:27 PDT, seller added the following information: On closer inspection - the quarter door window is NOT cracked, it is just being held in place by a couple wires (that looked like cracks). If the glass was re-mounted this would be a perfectly functional window. I've also added another picture of the PTO and underside, notice there is very little rust.
