Vehicle Detail

2009 Dodge Challenger R/T ProCharger Supercharged and Intercooled Mopar Muscle Magazine Project Car This 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T has been a Mopar Muscle Magazine technical project car since it was purchased new. Nearly every aspect of this car has been upgraded and all of the improvements have been documented in multiple issues of Mopar Muscle Magazine and Mopar Now Magazine (published by Mopar Muscle). A copy of each magazine is included in the sale. All paperwork, documentation, receipts, dyno sheets, etc. regarding the car and parts are also included in the sale. Overall: This Challenger R/T is a well optioned car with factory 5.7 Hemi engine, automatic transmission, 20-inch chrome clad aluminum wheels, two-tone leather heated seats, Premium sound AM/FM/CD and Satellite radio, power steering and brakes, power windows, power driver’s seat, heated seats, rear window defog, pushbutton ignition, and power sunroof. Silver with black accents, tinted windows, and a lowered ride stance, this car attracts attention at events, the track, and when being driven on the street. This Challenger has better than new looks, acceleration, handling, and braking, thanks to the many upgrades performed in multiple magazine articles. All of the upgrades have been performed using the best aftermarket parts and professional installation methods. The car is completely reliable and drivable, and has low (less than 24,000) original miles since it has never been used as a daily driver. The auction reserve is set well below what it would take to purchase a 2009 R/T and perform all of the upgrades. The performance, drivability, and appearance of this car will not disappoint so bid with confidence. This car offers better than SRT-8 performance, economy, and appearance for less money! Body: Factory silver high-gloss paint with ’71-style R/T vinyl side stripe from Graphic Express in Matte black. Rear spoiler is re-finished in matte black to match the front spoiler, Shaker scoop, and stripes. Hood is fiberglass with Shaker scoop from Classic Design Concepts (CDC) and utilizes all factory hardware and latches. Paint is in excellent original condition and has been kept cleaned and protected with Meguiare’s car wash and wax products since new. No accidents or damage history. The car has been garage kept since new and is in like-new condition. Glass is all factory installed and in excellent condition and has been tinted with top of the line 3M tinting products to the darkest legal tint allowed in Florida. Grill was replaced under warranty with new grille due to small imperfections in the plastic black area which were common to these cars. New grille is in perfect condition. Emblems were not reinstalled which make the car kind of a sleeper, but the Challenger R/T emblems come with the car. Engine: The factory 5.7 Hemi engine has less than 24,000 original miles and is equipped with a ProCharger intercooled centrifugal supercharger kit. This installation was completed by ProCharger’s factory installation team, includes larger fuel injectors and other associated components, and was covered in Mopar Muscle Magazine technical articles. The ProCharger installation resulted in an increase of 100 rear-wheel horsepower with a very conservative tune (12 degrees ignition timing) without sacrificing drivability or idle quality. The MDS system is still operable so mileage is great. The supercharger is ProCharger’s quiet drive version so there is no indication that the car is supercharged (other than the intercooler) until the hood is open. The engine is dyno tuned and tuning is a conservative setup from ProCharger that is easy on the engine, utilizing a Diablosport Predator tuner which is included in the sale. The Diablosport unit is fully programmable, easy to use, plugs right into the OBD II port under the dash, and also serves as a diagnostic tool. The engine has always been serviced at 3,000 mile intervals with AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. ProCharger oil has been changed every other oil change with ProCharger synthetic oil. The exhaust has been replaced from the catalytic converters back with 2.5 inch Magnaflow stainless steel high flow pipes and mufflers, an X-pipe, and quad chrome tips. Exhaust has a nice tone but is not overly loud and doesn’t drone at highway speeds. Drive Train: The factory NAG1 automatic transmission is a complete new unit and has been upgraded and re-valved for firmer shifts and to handle higher power by Gearstar Performance. The torque converter is also a new unit from Gearstar Performance with a higher stall speed and greatly improved lockup compared the factory converter. The transmission upgrades were also covered in a Mopar Muscle technical article. The factory automatics in these cars are tough units, but the Gearstar Performance transmission offers many great improvements and is rated for an amazing 800 lb/ft of torque. This means if you want to add more boost or a larger displacement engine the transmission is already capable of handling the extra power. Differential is factory Sure-Grip unit and factory gears and axles. Razor’s Edge Performance chrome-moly sub-frame connectors have been added to stiffen the chassis. Front Suspension: Front suspension has been upgraded with Eibach Sport Suspension kit which lowers the car an inch and a half, and includes new performance struts and springs and a heavy duty larger diameter sway bar. All of the factory rubber front suspension bushings have been replaced with Energy Suspension’s Hyper-Flex performance polyurethane upgraded bushings. Razor’s Edge Motorsports billet adjustable sway bar end-links have been added as well as a Razor’s Edge Motorsports billet adjustable bump steer kit which replaces the non-adjustable outer tie-rods. The car has been re-aligned and drives great and tracks straight. The ride quality is very nice and the car handles, brakes, and accelerates far better than it did when stock. Rear Suspension: The rear suspension has been upgraded with Eibach Sport Suspension including new performance struts and springs, and heavy duty larger diameter sway bar, and is an inch and a half lower than stock. All of the factory rubber rear bushings, including cradle bushings and all control arm bushings, have been replaced with Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex high-performance polyurethane bushings. In stock form the rear of these cars has substantial movement due to the rubber factory rear bushings holding the IRS cradle to the car. The Energy Suspension bushings eliminate this problem and make the car feel much more connected to the road. Ride quality is great and the car handles far better than new thanks to the suspension upgrades. Brakes: Brakes are Wilwood high-performance disc brakes with front six-piston calipers, rear four-piston calipers, and large diameter drilled and slotted rotors. The brake installation was accomplished using Wilwood’s complete front and rear kits, and covered in both Mopar Muscle Magazine and Mopar Now. The upgraded brakes resulted in a dramatic reduction in braking distance, making the car perform better as well as making the car safer. The factory anti-lock function and ESP is still completely functional. Even with stock tires, these brakes work much better than the factory installed disc brakes, and don’t build heat or fade with repeated use like the stock brakes. Wheels and Tires: Wheels are factory 20 inch chrome-clad aluminum with original Goodyear Eagle RSA 245/45R20 tires. Tires are about half worn with plenty of tread left. Wheels are in excellent shape with no imperfections. Car drives smooth with no noise or vibrations. This car would benefit from stickier tires to take better advantage of the upgrades. Fuel System: Fuel system is the factory fuel tank, lines, and pump with the addition of a ProCharger (Autometer) fuel pressure gauge on the A-pillar. A Flowcharger voltage booster comes with the car but is not installed as it is not necessary the way the car is setup. With additional boost or a larger engine the Flowcharger can be easily installed and will increase fuel flow to the engine when the supercharger is producing boost. Interior: Interior is in excellent condition and features factory two-tone gray/slate leather bucket seats. A Razor’s Edge Motorsports rear seat delete kit has been installed to save weight but factory rear seats comes with car as well and I can install the rear seats if desired. Rear seat is 60/40 split and folds down for access from the trunk. An NHRA certified and serial numbered RPM bolt-in roll bar is installed and is compatible with factory seats or rear delete kit. The roll bar is easily removable if desired. We also added an aftermarket Grant leather wrapped steering wheel with factory in-wheel switches. A Razor’s Edge Motorsports A-pillar gauge pod is installed with both Boost and Fuel Pressure gauges. All of the interior upgrades have been covered in Mopar Muscle technical articles. Summary: This Challenger R/T is a great car and has been a lot of fun to own and drive but does not fit the needs of the magazine or my family at this time. Mopar Muscle is in the process of building a different late-model Challenger and rather than see this car sit in storage it will be sold to the highest bidder. This is a great, high-performance car for daily driving and could be used for fun on an autocross course or drag strip as well. This car outperforms SRT-8 Challengers in every category as is, while being docile, economical, and attractive. With the brakes, suspension, and transmission you could really push performance through the roof with a stroker motor or just enjoy the car as is. Bid with confidence as this Challenger is likely one of the best documented performance cars on the market having been built in the pages of Mopar Muscle Magazine. This car will not disappoint. I would suggest that you come see the car in person if you are local, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask them through ebay or to call me on my cell phone at: 863/990-2486 Buyer is responsible for pickup, and there is no reason you couldn’t fly in and drive the car home to wherever you live in the US, Canada, Mexico, etc.
