Vehicle Detail
Hello, I'm selling my baby... This Shelby Cobra GT500 is an exceptional example of the fire breathing GT Supercar powertrain that has been treated as a 3rd child. I've held on to it through the last year in Iowa, because I couldn't bare to sell it when we moved here - Even though my commute was just too long to be putting lots of miles on er. I instead decided to buy another all wheel drive car that wasn't a timepeice like this, and could rack the miles without concern from me. Now the 2 payments, and Iowa Registration tax being the way it is, I just can't keep it. I love this car, and go in the garage nightly just to look at it, because it's so sinister, and beautiful at the same time. It's so fun to have almost limitless power and speed at your fingertips - It does make you feel like a god of speed. When I bought it, I was just a few miles from work, and was further south, yet it's probably time for someone else to enjoy it, because I feel I'm just ruining it by driving it so much on just straight boring roads, when it was meant to have some fun... I had a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 when I was younger, and loved that car so much, I had nightmares for years after selling it, because I missed it so much. I'm sure this will be the same, but I must move on. OK - Enough of my sob story. So here's the details - I have stored it the 1 winter that I have owned it through so far (bought off the showroom floor in February of 2011 in St. Louis Missouri) and brought it home. I am so finicky, that I wouldn't even let the dealership driver bring it to the dealership I bought it from (They traded another car for it) when I purchased. I wanted to drive it off the showroom floor, and keep all the plastics, etc. on it. I still have all the plastics, and documentation that comes along with it, including a Ford Registration of a Shelby car with the VIN number, etc. that you have to special order from Ford. It hasn't been on gravel roads, snow, salt or any harsh conditions (people at work make fun of me for not driving on gravel roads). I have not made any untasteful modifications to the car, as I'm a true believer in OEM being the best. I have made a few additions that any GT500 owner would love. I added an oil catch can to the air system to reduce oil going into the intake. I added custom anodized pedals with an extension to aid in Heel/Toe downshifting, and stainless steel brake lines, and it's always been serviced by Ford Mechanics with oil changes and service. It's had 2 oil changes so far, and I had them use the Ford Racing ($15) Filter to make sure it stays in good condition. I'm so worried about it, that often I ask to check the oil, and talk to the mechanic after the oil change to make sure there is no issues. The brake fluid has been changed once also to make sure it doesn't take on moisture, since the Ford Racing fluid is used which is a high grade. The brake pads are still in good condition, as are the rotors, which don't have a ledge on them as if they were abused or used for a long time. The tires have pretty good tread (considering they are basically racing tires with some deep grooves in the middle, so they can pass as DOT passenger car tires). There are no dings, dents, paint problems, or rust issues, as I've also had it up on the lift at the shop to look over the underside to make sure everything looks good. I have waxed multiple times, and have also done a light buff to smooth out the clear coat imperfections from the factory, and give it that showroom shine. The SVT Performance Pack, and Navigation were the only 2 options and they are both on this car, and they are both awesome. The Navigation and Bluetooth are great additions, and just seeing the Cobra pop up each day on the screen to say Good Morning, is very enjoyable. The seats are in great condition, as I use a leather conditioner religiously to reduce crows feet, and wear on the leather. The transmission and shifter are great for this car, beefy, and very very short shift. Not sure what else to say, besides it's a 1 owner, very low milleage, perfect example of the color/option combination that is hard to find, and it's been babied. (Not sure if I can witness the winning bidder driving off in it, because it will be difficult) Good Luck on bidding
