* NO RESERVE * * 1981 Datsun 280ZX GL Turbo Coupe * Late production (7/81) of a first year Datsun 280ZX Turbo Coupe. Two owner Colorado car, present ownership since 2004. Low mileage for the year. (125K) I intended to utilize the L28 Turbo engine for a swap to an earlier HS-130 ('72 240Z). These are ideal engine platforms and a relatively easy swap to enhance performance while retaining the Datsun aspect of the HS-130 cars. Unfortunately, the 240Z was involved in an accident and the project has been abandoned. The engine runs strong, it has between 138 & 144 compression in all six cylinders with no annoying drips or leaks. The turbo spools right up. Recent service consisted of the factory radiator being replaced, all 6 fuel injectors are new, belts, hoses, fluids, NGK plugs, new wires & NAPA battery. The first year 280ZX Turbos were only offered with an automatic transmission. The stock 5-speed transmission used in the non-turbo ZX's and turbo cars from '82 & '83 easily interchange with a simple flywheel swap. The "Snowflake" alloys were exclusive to the first year turbo ZX cars. All 4 are in decent shape with no curb rash. T-tops are in good condition with nice sunshades as well as the storage bags. Recent Alpine CD stereo Factory equipped as follows: *Turbo 6 cylinder, (180 hp) *Automatic transmission *T-Tops *GL appointments (power windows, mirrors, locks) all operate *Cruise Control *Automatic climate control *Headlight Washers *Power steering *Power disc brakes *Air conditioning, disconnected though all components remain *Period correct aluminum rear louvre In 1981, these were the highest performance vehicles offered from Japan. (0-60 in 7.5 sec.) This 280ZX had a front bra on for years and subsequently, moisture collected under the bra causing rust to the lower hood area and left fender. These could be easily replaced if one wanted to drive and/or restore the car or use the engine as mentioned, for an HS-130 swap. There are many good parts that could then be resold to offset the cost of the swap. Either way, the car still has tremendous potential. There is no broken or cracked glass.
