Vehicle Detail
1977 AMC Jeep Cherokee Chief 'S' 4-Wheel-Drive 2-door 1/2 ton wagon. ALL ORIGINAL, 2nd owner! 92,954 original miles, odometer has never turned over! Clear Idaho title. Full-time 4WD Quadra-Trac plus low range. 401 V-8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor. Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Heavy-duty front suspension with 3,500-lb front axle, 3,250-lb rear axle, total 6,025 lb GVW. 3:54 ratio axles. Wide-track package (J-10 shorter box frame). Original factory orange paint with black accents; original factory-option white spoke wheels, 15" x 8". Tires are 31.50 x 10.0. Original tan leatherette interior, some wear on driver's seat as shown in photos. Back seat folds down, or can be easily removed with quick-release levers for extra cargo space. Original owner's manual also included! I am selling this truck for my brother-in-law, who was the second owner (and does not have a computer). When he purchased the truck in 1989, it had only 67,833 miles, and in the last 23 years he has added only another 25,000 miles. My brother-in-law always garaged his prize possession, and there is no rust visible on the truck (Southern Idaho is high desert climate). This is an amazing, RARE survivor. Made to climb rocks, go hunting and fishing, all the things a boy should do. Runs strong, and you will not find a cleaner, more original, go-anywhere Jeep in this great condition. This is a NO RESERVE auction! Truck is sold AS IS, no warrantees. Local pickup only, delivery not possible. $750 deposit via Paypal, balance via bank transfer. Feel free to call Ken at (208) 343-3341 with any questions. NOTE: This vehicle is NOT for sale locally or on Craig's List. I will not sell the truck early before the end of the auction. Good luck bidding! On Sep-26-12 at 20:58:00 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL NOTE: Below is an answer to some questions from a seller, which did not post as I thought it would: Re shipping, yes, I will be available to aid in loading for a shipper. Re condition of body: I cannot find any rust in the floorboards or door bottoms or fenders, except for the very bottom of the rear passenger fender, there is some rust. There is one patch of non-original black paint on the driver's side (see added photo). Re condition of interior: driver's seat and passenger seat have tears (see photos). Arm rest and rear seat are in excellent condition. Headlights work; radio works; heater motor works; oil pressure works; windshield wipers work; turn signals do NOT work; driver's side parking light does not work. Rear window motor is unknown; I do not want to test it, in case it doesn't go back up. Re driveability: I just started the truck up to test the electrics, and it idles nicely. I did drive the truck from my friend's house about 10 miles to my home. I personally do not think it would be wise to drive a vehicle very far with so many original parts, without knowing the condition of everything mechanical. Thank you for your questions, Ken ALSO, it has been brought to my attention that, according to the VIN number of the vehicle, it apparently has a 360 V-8 original engine, rather than the 401 as listed above. I was only going by what my brother-in-law told me, so I am posting this information since I was able to crawl under the truck and see the "360" on the side of the engine block, near the motor mounts. Thanks, Ken On Sep-29-12 at 13:09:33 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I was only able to upload two additional pictures (I am now at the max allowed by the listing). The one area of rust I can find is the rear passenger fender, near the back edge (see photo). It is surface rust only, with minor flaking. It does not go through the metal. I also included a photo of the floor under the driver's side carpet. It still has its original rubber underlayment (now brittle in some areas), with a plastic sheet under that, protecting the metal floor from water. The orange metal underneath looks pristine. This all looks very factory original, and the passenger side carpet is in excellent condition. Also, the headliner is in excellent condition, with the exception of one seam that needs to be tucked back under the metal trim. In one spot on the rear driver's side, the vinyl likewise needs to be tucked back under the trim above.
