Vehicle Detail
There are 121 pictures to see if you click on the Photobucket link. You are looking at my father's 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. I was 12 the day we went to the Cadillac dealer to pick it up. It was a Saturday and the car was stored indoors in the service area in the back of the building. We walked thru the showroom and saw it in a diagonal spot in the back. It was absolutely stunning, as it still is. If you're looking for such a car, this should be it. It would be next to impossible to find another with this d'Elegance option package, in this condition, IN UNMOLESTED CONDITION. My father bought it new in 1979 with 8 miles on it and he passed away two years ago. It has a stack of paperwork from years of service, etc that goes with it. Two original sales brochures are included. I had plans to fix the little issues with it and drive it, but then came to my senses. Where do I store it, where do I find the time, etc etc. It had been many years since I took it out for a long ride but it drove very well. Recent short rides show it drives just as well. I think the choice in radios that year was either a factory CB or a casette player. This one has the CB player, that was fun to play with years ago. All the glass is in great condition, the seats are in the pictures, carpet is pretty good. I don't remember why there are two sets of floor mats. A very common problem with these cars was the rear brakes. The car came standard with 4-wheel disc brakes and the parking brake never worked correctly. This also made the service brakes "mushy". This car is no exception. It was a known design problem and I remember hearing years ago that people were taking rear axles from standard 1979 caddy models and replacing these, giving them conventional rear drum brakes and parking brakes that worked. The car was garaged 100% of its life and has no rust. There is some blemishing on the chrome and the car was hit on the driver's door once and the front grill and hood replaced at another time. Neither accident, as I remember them were enough to cause other problems, just auto body stuff. I don't recall what happened to the original washer container. Automatic trunk closer works. As far as I remember the "Astroroof" (sunroof) works but I didn't want to try it, it hasn't been operated in years. The strange wiring under the hood is from the replacement power antenna and from a musical horn that's still in the car. There is one hubcap missing. Besides what's in the pics, here are the known issues: power seats operate in some of their directions; a/c will not blow cold, though it did a few years ago; power antenna is an aftermarket replacement that I installed about 15 years ago and only goes up if the radio on/off knob is fiddled with; "level ride" compressor was stuck on years ago and removed (I have it and it goes with the car); staining in the trunk carpet; s/s strip missing under the passenger door. This car is 33 years old and you need to understand that. For its age it is in great condition and in my opinion the issues are minor but you need to know that I did not go through the car with a fine tooth comb. You may, and probably will find other issues with it. My list of problems should not be considered complete! This sale is 100% final and I am not guaranteeing anything except that you will get the car pictured here if you're the winner and pay the final auction price. Please Paypal me a $200 deposit within 48 hrs of winning the auction and the balance paid in green cash when you pick it up.
