You are bidding on a FULLY RESTORED and very rare 1984 factory 2.2L FACTORY DIESEL Ford Ranger. This truck gets 30 MPG highway and 25 MPG in town.After the oil crises and gas shortages of the late 70's and early 80's, many pickup truck manufacturers offered small diesel engines as an option. Most of these small diesels have either gone to the crusher or were shipped as used trucks to South America where they sold at high prices. Today in the U.S. they are hard to find, especially one that has been fully restored. Everything has been done. From the front grille to the tailgate, every major component has been replaced or rebuilt to factory spec. The engine, transmission and rear end were rebuilt. The suspension and braking systems were totally rebuilt. Every auxiliary component attached to the engine (all AC system components, alternator, power steering pump, power brake and master cylinder, radiator, vacuum pump, etc.) were replaced or rebuilt to factory specs. New springs front and back. Gas tanks (it has two, which makes it a good candidate for bio-diesel conversion) were removed and cleaned. The interior was completely replaced and the gauge cluster was professionally restored. A proper temperature gauge was added as were two extra 12v power outlets and a voltage meter. A NOS dash instrument bezel was found and installed. The AM/FM stereo radio was rebuilt to add an input for an iPod, the female jack for which is built into the lower dash. In short, it is like new in all respects. except that I have been driving it occasionally for a year and it now has (at the time of this posting) about 3,953 miles on the new GPS-driven speedometer's odometer. The original truck was remarkably rust free and it was professionally stripped and painted Amazon Green Metallic (a 2000 Mazda truck paint color). Truck bed was professionally sprayed with Line-X and new stainless rail caps and toolbox installed. New tires and wheels, including spare, which is bed-mounted. New windshield and window glass, with new window riser mechanisms, window channels and weather strips. New slide-opening rear window. The only thing missing is the cab sun visors, which were lost in the restoration, but are easy to find in parts yard or replacements can be bought from truck parts houses like LMC. This truck runs and drives great.
