Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car for about four years and during that time it has been my daily driver. 100% reliable always. It is the third Mercedes diesel I have owned and anyone who is familiar with these cars knows how reliable they are. I am the third owner from the best of my knowledge. All paint is original except the driver's side front fender has been repainted at some point. It has never had any serious accidents or any type of structural damage that I am aware of. There is a mileage discrepancy... The gentleman that I acquired the car from told me that the car had around 220k on it when I bought it, but the odometer read about 280k. He told me the odometer broken and he replaced it with one he got from a junkyard. I'd known him for quite a few years and had no reason to doubt him. While I had the car the odometer broke again... never push the trip reset while the car is being driven, it strips the gears! I found out the hard way. I did the same thing and had it replaced with one from a junkyard as well... It broke a few months ago. The odometer currently reads 396k, but the actual mileage is around 325k. In the past year and under 10k miles the car has had the front end rebuilt (tie rod ends, center link, ball joints, control arms replaced), radiator and water pump replaced, and the valves adjusted. The timing chain was replaced about 35k miles ago. I also just put four new tires on the car, they have less than 1k miles on them. The hydraulic rear suspension works perfectly and was completely replaced about six months before I got the car. The car has rust in two spots... one on the front of the driver's door just above the lower trim piece and just behind the driver's side rear wheel. The A/C does not work. The car comes with two full size spares and a box of new parts that includes some odds and ends that a friend gave me (filters, mounts, etc). This car runs great and has been maintained well. This car has always been a southern (Virginia) car to the best of my knowledge. I just moved to Pennsylvania a few weeks ago hence the vehicle being located in PA now. The reserve price is much lower than the buy it now and is very reasonable. This is a great, incredibly reliable and versatile car. I for family reasons and purchased a Subaru Impreza. I am selling this car because I don't need such a large vehicle anymore and I don't want to see it go through a winter up north and be subjected to all the salt, etc. In addition I have no place to keep the car garaged. I hope this answers many peoples questions. Thank you and happy bidding. NADA low book value on this car is over $5,500. Please, contact me with any questions and Happy Bidding. I will not ship this vehicle, buyer is responsible for pick-up or hiring and dealing with a transport service. On Sep-25-12 at 07:57:13 PDT, seller added the following information:Folks, I have had so many questions about this car. More than any other car I have ever sold. First off my reserve is less than half of the book value. Yes, the transmission shifts fine. Yes the hydraulic rear suspension works just fine too. Yes it has been converted to manual windows and they are wonderful, work just fine too. Yes, it has new tires. Yes, the front end was just rebuilt not too long ago. Yes, it has had regular maintenance. It uses a minor amount of oil between oil changes, 1/2 a quart to a quart, it depends on driving. The engine is clean (look at pictures). No, I DO NOT know what it may need for state inspection where you live. No I won't do a compression test. No I have no idea what to tell you about "how much blow by does it have". The car runs well and I would drive it anywhere... Hell, I have been driving it anywhere (and everywhere) for the past four years. It is a Mercedes Benz Diesel one of, if not the most, reliable well-built cars ever. I believe that if you take care of it properly (don't convert it to run on fry grease, don't wreck it, do regular maintenance, etc) that it will last you for 100's of thousands miles. The most mileage I have ever seen on a car are on a Mercedes Benz 300td... 890,000+ miles! and it still ran and drove! This is one heck of a car for less than mid 90's Honda Civic money. I have been very honest in describing the car to the best of my knowledge, if you are still concerned feel free to have a mechanic check the car out.
