Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a complete and running 1973 BMW 2002tii. The original color is Verona. According to BMW VIN 2763484 was born on Feb 19th, 1973 and delivered to Hoffman Motors on Feb 21st, 1973. Odometer Reads 74871 Due to family, health and work I am having to part with my dream project for a time. It is rusty! The worst part is the front end. Then there is the spare wheel well, passenger wheel well and the front turn signal housing. If I had the time and space I would get a shell or another tii in decent body shape and transfer nearly every part of this car to the new one. If you are willing to over look all that here is what she has going for her. Starting up front, you will notice the plastic grills, not correct for a 73. The nose piece is a 74 euro nose. This nose accommodates the early style bumper brackets. The front driver turn signal well is rusted out. I have a later fender that I will include. The driver door opens and closes fine. The passenger door needs a new hinge. It only opens half way. The trunk has rust in the spare wheel section and in the rear passenger wheel well. The trunk closes and locks with no leaks. It has a euro style bumper w/o lights and I can include a 320 plate frame with lights if you need one. The car starts, runs and drives. No issues with the Kuglefischer. The exhaust manifold has a crack and needs to be replaced; oil leaks and smokes on engine. The car also has a well done upgrade to the e34 5 series fuel pump. There are many posts on line on how to do this and what it is if you are not familiar with the upgrade. One of the exhaust bolts is cracked and needs to be drawn out. There are a couple of methods to do this. I would refresh all rubber, etc... on the drive train. Brakes work but should be replaced / worked on. The interior is one of the best parts! It has BMW stamped Recaro seats in the front. The rear seat appears to be the original BMW weave style; no rips and all the horsehair is gone. There is minimal wear on the drivers seat. One of the previous owners (who I am in contact with) installed Schroth 5-point harnesses. I have a set of regular seat belts that will be included as well. The door panels are off a LUX; so they have the wood accent and the accordion style map pocket as well. They were taken from a German junk yard during one of the PO's trips to Germany. All the carpet is there but I would replace that. The dash is complete with the clock. It does not work, but again that is a simple fix using a soldering iron. The wheel is a newer Momo Prototipo wheel with Momo horn button. Horn works, I have the tii horn ring so there is no funny wiring there. Al the glass is crack free. The tires are in great shape and are mounted on OEM BMW basket weave wheels which have been coated white. The coating job is very well done, but I do not know the method. It has hard to find chrome wiper arms and the antenna with the jeweled tip is bent slightly, but could be coaxed back. but Please contact me with any questions. Help to give this car another chance. If you want, I can get the winning bidder in touch with one of the previous owners who had her for a long time. He's a great car guy and would also love to see his car continue on Send me a message for a link to a few more photos. $500 deposit required via PayPal. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping within 1 week of auction end.
