FOR AUCTION:1970 Datsun 240Z with a low production number and a clean and clear California title. This particular car has a production number of 02169 was likely assembled in the early months of 1970. It is a Series I model of the 240 z. Hatch is the original with vertical defrost line pattern and two vents underneath that are specific to that year. The odometer states over 77,000 miles but I have no idea whether is is 77,000, 177,000, 277,000 or more. The lack of rust in the wheel wells and all other areas of the car suggest low mileage or use only in good weather. The car was originally painted the Datsun "burnt orange" which still shows in the engine compartment. According to the previous owner, the car was prepped and the exterior was painted more of a brighter tangerine orange sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s and never put back together. The protective adhesive tape from the paint job is still there in some places. There are some paint cracks on the roof as pictured. This car was last running about 5 years ago when I picked it up in inland California and got the engine started. Since then, I've had no time to work on it and it has been sitting in my garage under a cover. There are some new engine parts (from 5 years ago when I worked on it) - fuel pump, hoses, plugs, thermostat housing, thermostat, Pertronix ignition, coil, and I had cleaned the SU dome carburetors at that time too (they may or may not need cleaning again) The interior is taken apart and is missing the dashboard. Otherwise, I have most (if not all) of the interior panels, fan motor, console (middle and dash), gauges, clock, chrome linings (some are bent) for the windows, along with some extra engine parts including headlights and orange air filter compartment not pictured. Also included - 2 original Datsun floormats, and wooden Datsun steering wheel. The body is in exceptional condition and is a great shell for a ground up restoration project. All wheel well, body panels, shock housings, and other places where rust is usually there, look like those pictured. Brakes lights, hazards, and signal lights were in working order last time I tried them 5 years ago. There are 4 slotted "gunmetal grey" wheels (3 are on the vehicle and 1 is in the spare tire compartment) and 1 chrome slotted spare rim that is currently mounted on the front drivers side. The tires all have plenty of tread, but are all older and should be replaced prior to making the car safe and roadworthy. The engine and 5 speed transmission do not have matching numbers. I have never worked on the brakes, transmission, or electrical components and the car has never been roadworthy as long as I have owned it. Thus, the new owner should take measures to go through everything prior to operating on the road. Although the dashboard is missing, the electrical components (clock, gauges, fan motor, etc) are intact and should fit right back into a replacement dashboard. DELIVERY:1) Car can be picked up from in front of my house (FOB Las Vegas) by you or a shipping company after September 17, 2012 (please note that the auction ends a week earlier but I am unfortunately busy due to moving through September 16 and cannot be there to arrange for pick up until after September 17). or: 2) I can also tow it to your place (limited to the lower 48 states) on a uhaul trailer. If opting for delivery, buyer is responsible for payment of the following expenses prior to start of delivery: a) Uhaul Trailer Rental: 6' x 12' utility trailer with ramp (you can calculate rental costs on uhaul web site). b) Gasoline: Gas to the destination AND back to Las Vegas - my car gets 20 mpg and only takes 91 octane gas. (number of miles calculated by google maps divided by 20, thenmultiplied by $4.50). c) Lodging: I can cover up to 300 miles a day and if it takes more than a day, you pay for lodging $80/night to AND back to Las Vegas. d) Delivery Fee: $100 for each day I am on the road to compensate me for driving. I am willing to deliver to most locations in the lower 48 states reachable by paved roads or well maintained dirt roads that is safe for towing (seller determines what is "safe"). If you live in a remote location, please contact me prior to bidding to confirm if delivery is possible if you opt for delivery. If buyer is requesting delivery, I reserve the right to control when to deliver the vehicle (it will be within a reasonable time depending on how far the destination is and likely within 45 days of close of auction at a destination in the lower 48 states). Please keep in mind that all shipping costs will INCLUDE expenses for me to get back to Las Vegas, NV in my car. Any expenses paid in excess to actual driving costs will be considered compensation for wear and tear on my vehicle, meal expenses, etc., and therefore not refundable. Please note that I am unavailable to begin delivery until after September 17, 2012. PAYMENT AND TERMS:Car sold "as is" with no warranty express or implied. Payment in full is required prior to picking up or start of delivery. Car will be available for pickup after September 17 (please note again, this is more than a week after the auction ends). Cash or cashier's check from a major bank for payment in full is required no later than the time of pickup or start of delivery (including delivery expenses if you opt for that). Any check MUST CLEAR in my bank account PRIOR to when the transfer of actual vehicle begins whether it is by delivery or pick up. Thus, if you are coming to Las Vegas to pick up the vehicle and paying by cashier's check, make sure you arrive early on a business day or pay at least a business day before so that I have time to go to US Bank, deposit the check and confirm that proceeds are in my account.
