The S4 was one of the final iterations of the 928 Porsche line up. The S4 was really the first and last complete redesign in a decade for the 928 cars. It had sleeker lines, bigger tires, and an all new 5.0 liter water cooled V8 wrapped in an aerodynamic aluminum skin. For many 928 enthusiasts, these cars were considered one of the best and most reliable. With original MSRP prices well over $60,000 (nearly 20k more than a 911 at the time), only the few were able to afford these hand built touring cars. In fact, the 928 configuration ended up being Ferry Porsche’s favorite car.
The original owners purchased this 928 from a Porsche dealer in Santa Monica, CA. They owned the car for about 10 years and put a little over 80,000 miles on it. They then sold the car to a local enthusiast who owned it for another 10 years and put around 25,000 miles on it. The current owner purchased the car almost 2 years ago and began using it as a part-time daily driver. During this time, he has put about 6,000 miles on the car. This owner is the perfect person to purchase a used Porsche from. He has no hesitation to spend the proper amount of money to make sure his cars are safe and work they way they should. Recently, he spent over $7,000 on maintenance. This included:
New tires on 993 Turbo Twist wheels (sorry, the originals are not available)
Replaced timing belt, water pump, tensioner gasket, boot and clamp
Fix power steering leak
Replaced radiator
Misc. interior switch fixes (horn button, window switch, turn signal switch, etc.)
Replaced gas tank and sending unit
Major service
Brakes (pads, rotors, and flush system) all the way around
As you can imagine, the car drives great.
This 928 came nicely optioned from the factory with the following:
Blaupunkt Reno radio (stopped working/replaced with in dash CD player)
Side protection moldings
Air Conditioner with Improved Efficiency (Rear A/C)
Electric sliding roof
Leather draped seat covers
The car looks just as good as it drives. The paint is in great condition with very little signs of use. Considering the mileage, this car looks far better than many with half the miles. The paint is all original except for the hood and part of the left front fender. The hood was painted due to rock chips and they blended it a bit up onto the fender. It is only noticeable with a paint meter. The interior is equally as nice. The factory leather looks great with no tears or rips. There are minimal wear signs on the exit bolsters. The headliner is perfect and the dash looks nearly new. There are just a few tiny cracks between the defrost vents…almost unnoticeable. The interior is a much darker blue (almost black). The pictures make it look much lighter than it really is. Similar to the exterior, the interior looks better than most 928s with half the mileage.
This Porsche comes complete with the owner’s manuals/books and cover, extra key, tool kit, spare, and jack.
