1964 MGB Convertible Coupe Stalled Restoration Project Ready for You to Restore CONDITION: PARTIALLY DISASSEMBLED, rolling chassis. Engine and transmission out. Clear Maryland Title in my name. Lots of photos here in this ad. These and many others are posted here: http://s1049.photobucket.com/albums/s400/littlelocosME/ ENGINE: Engine partially disassembled for cleaning, but appears to be in good condition. Engine parts bagged and tagged as they were removed. Some parts sand or bead blasted and painted (oil pan, timing chain cover, fan, pulley, intake manifold, thermostat housing -- see pics) Cylinders, crank, cam, cam chain, valves, etc. look good and should present no real problem to complete. Engine turns over with no appreciable play. Appears that previous owner may have done some rebuilding here; however, there is no record of the work so this is not guaranteed. Most gaskets and hardware needed to reassemble engine have been purchased and will be included with sale.Includes rebuilt generator along with original generator and starter which need rebuilding. BODY: Overall, restorable. Some major, typical rust as seen in pics. Doors shut properly, no body sag that I can see. Driver's side door has been replaced with a push-button door and strike. Complete replacement door included to convert it back to original, pushbutton lock and strike. Rust at bottom of front fenders, outside and mid-panel under doors (inner door sills appear solid, but have not been fully exposed from the inside). Includes NEW Rover-brand rocker panels ($136.95/ea at Moss Motors) Includes two, complete replacement doors in excellent condition. (complete with glass, locksets, window hardware and original door interior panel.) Includes replacement, complete trunk lid to replace the original, rusted one Original, aluminum hood is in great shape Floors are rusty and should be replaced. (see pics) Rust around the headlights and rusty headlights should be repaird and/or replaced. Trunk (boot) floor appears solid, but does have some rust. There is some evidence of previous, bondo repairs near the lower fenders. We have pulled some of this off to expose some of the repairs. Gas tank is rusty and should be replaced. Original wheels (includes all 5) should be sandblasted and painted. Hubcaps (includes all 4) should be rechromed. Bumpers should be rechromed. Grill is in ok condition and will need some repairs or replacement. Included new side mouldings Will need complete interior kit. Seats are usable, but have holes near the base of the seat cushions. We have taken a bunch of photos to give you a good idea of the condition of the car. See photos with this ad as well as another 21 photos posted to Photobucket. (See link above.) On Aug-28-12 at 18:25:09 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: This car is listed as a 1964 MGB. Checking the serial number, it is actually a 1963 -- a very early "B" indeed. It is titled in Maryland (and previously in Pennsylvania) as a 1964. From my research, the 1964 model year started with GHN3L19586. The engine number plate is missing; however, under the rear felt seal is the number 22834 (see Photobucket pics). Given the early head and head casting date of 1963, this should match the rest of the car. Since the engine was not in the car when we purchased it 3 years ago, I have never seen it in the car. I purchased the car, in pieces, from a long-time owner and driver. He had no other MG's that we saw. My assumption at this point is that the correct engine number would be 18G/UH/22834. This evening (Tuesday), I pulled out many of the parts, etc. and took another 80+ photos. These have been posted to Photobucket - see link in the first part of this ad. Let me know if you have any questions. I am glad to answer. Thanks, Todd.
