*NOTE Update - 8/29 - I have added more info under description - see "bold" print. I'm also adding more pics at the request of interested Watchers. DUE TO DEADBEAT, NON-PAYING BIDDER THE FIRST TIME HERE'S THIS AUCTION AGAIN - PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY--Must Sell- Very Reasonable Start Bid & Buy It Now Option FOR SALE - Lot - 1955 DeSoto Firedome Convertible 1955 DeSoto Firedome Sedan Up for auction are two classic 1950’s cars. I love old cars - when I retired recently I intended to restore this convertible and use the sedan for a parts car. However, health problems have developed and I have made the decision to sell both as a “package deal”. I am an honest eBayer (13 years) and I will describe them as completely as I can although I am not an expert. *Please Note – Serious bidders for this rare car. Please make sure you want these two cars and be prepared to follow through with all purchase/payment/pick-up guidelines. You must have at least 30 feedbacks and All positive comments in your feedbacks. *Bidders from lower 48 United States only - no foreign bids. There is a BUY IT NOW option. 1955 DeSoto CONVERTIBLE Convertibles are the most sought-after collector cars. Here is one of the rarest 50’s cars!. Only 625 DeSoto Firedome convertibles were produced in 1955. The car’s look is distinctive and its marketing said it was “Lower, Wider, Longer with a 125 inch wheel base”. The value has increased steadily every year according to one of the well-know old car value guides. Convertible Description - It is red/white with grey/black interior. It is not titled (*note - it was a northeastern state car and a title was not required for registration. (I did not receive a title with it). No keys. It is 99% complete, with the 291 c.i. hemi engine (stuck) (radiator available but is out of car), PS, PB, Powerflight transmission, rear end and factory glass intact (no cracks). It would be excellent for parts or as an AMBITIOUS restoration & it would require a lot of work. The convertible bows are in good condition (but 2 brackets are broken). It features a dash clock and radio. All handles are in place inside & outside but the driver door is stuck. Overall chrome is fair but the distinctive grill “teeth” are decent. Door panel trim is intact. Great, shiny hub caps. On firewall tag is the following: "DESOTO DIVISION TP 23 424 469 23 143 1458" Outside is rusted and weathered. Quarter panels and around fenders will need to be replaced. With all that said, the interior is complete. Many used parts are in the trunk including side trim parts; carburetor; hood ornament; battery hold-down; air cleaner; hub cap; rear view mirror; side mirror; taillight lens (small crack); two new rocker panels (surface rust). I’m also including a NIB muffler and two NIB replacement rear quarter panels; 3 body mounts have separated from the body; front floors are in poor condition with holes. Rear floors have rubber mat in place and holds to pressure; convertible pumps and motor are in place. I am uncertain about the condition of the frame. Some side stainless trim is missing. Some pieces are in the trunk. I have not done a "one-on-one" check to match the trim parts. All interior trim appears to be intact.Look closely at the pics. The last 3 pics are of the sedan. 1955 DeSoto SedanSedan Description - This is a 4-door sedan, PS PB. Colors are green and white. It is weathered and rough - All factory glass is intact with no cracks. Lots of parts inside including side trim & air cleaner. 291 c.i. hemi engine (stuck). Powerflight transmission. Not titled (it is a NC car – I bought it for parts and did not receive a title). No keys. Doors are stuck but driver’s door (missing handle) can be opened w/difficulty. Front floor pans are shot. Large dent in top roof. No radiator. Super hub caps-very shiny. This would be a good donor car for the convertible restoration or part it out. Sedan VIN number - 55238924. Mileage - 96,395.(Parts from these cars may also be used for a 1956 DeSoto restoration but you be the judge.) Purchase Guidelines & Pickup – *Read Carefully. Cars are to be sold together as they are/where they are (rural Abbeville County, SC). Please pick up both cars at the same time. They will require a car trailer or rollback truck. There is a dirt road leading to the cars’ location with adequate loading/turning space. *NOTE - The cars need to be moved within 30 days of the close of eBay auction. $500 is to be received within 48 hours of auction’s close in my Paypal account. The balance is to be received within 7 days (in my Paypal account or via bank's cashiers check). I am available for limited assistance at pick-up. Don’t let these rare symbols of the fifties slip by. You’re not likely to see another two-for-one 50’s cars anytime soon. I need to move these cars soon – I really don’t want to have them crushed. Please ask any questions via email prior to bidding - Good communication will make for a smooth transaction. Chrysler Corporation 1950's hot rod lead sled Hemi 1955 1956 Firedome sedan convertible
