Vehicle Detail

This auction is for possibly the nicest low miled orginal Jetfire on the planet. I have owned this car since 1978 and had it in dry garage storage from 1981 until June of this year (2012). I purchased this car from a gentlemen that bought it from a southern owner. There is no reason that I would ever doubt the mileage to be anything other than 100% authentic. In '78 I had a left front fender and hood repainted because apparently the prior storage exposed those areas to the elements. I had the bumpers replated and as you cans see on the pictures the plating has a slight bubbling at the front bumper brackets. The car still has its original GM exhaust system and since it was a early '63 car, it has the factory original stainless steel exhaust tips. If you aren't aware of these cars they were only made for 2 years and were members of a unique club with 1 h.p. per cubic inch. This all aluminum 215 V8 engine is still in use by Land Rover and also was the engine that was used in a Triumph TR8. Olsdmobile had some issues with people not properly maintaining and enjoying these turbo chargers and offered no charge replacements. That resulted in them yanking off the turbo chargers and replacing with 4 barrel carbs. So of the 4000 cars manufactured over the 2 years, many of them were chastised in the world of carboration. This car has all the original factory mechanical elements that it should have. The only missing items are the decals on the outside of the air filter. When this car was removed from storage I had absolutley everything that should be looked at and replaced...done! So it is currently ready to be driven home anywhere. The list completed include; draining gas tank, replacing all rubber brake hoses, repacking all whell bearings, replacing all whell cylinders & brake drums, changing all engine oli, coolant, tranny fluids rear-end grease, wiper blades, battery, hoses, tires, plugs, points, condenser, rotar, wires. The body is as rust free as you could ever find. The photos show that I peeled back the trunk mat and exposed the absolutely rust free trunk floor. This car still has the orginal jack, spare tire cover, tire iron etc. It istill has its original T3 headlights. I had taken closeups of the diecast for you to appreciate just how perfect it is. Notice that the color on the Jetfire emblem has not lost any of its original brilliance since it hasn't been exposed to sunlight. On the bottom of the car the only thing that isn't equal to the rest of the its originality, is at one time prior to my ownership it must have had a 3" soft spot under the drivers seat. This spot has been fixed. The windshield pillars, floorboards, wheel well openings ( inherently a weak spot on these cars) are excellent. Finally the interior - the photos tell it all. No mold spots on the headliners ( typical of storage), perfect crack-free dashboard all the things you like to find in these low mileage survivors. In 1981 this car won 1st Place Jr. Division at the Oldsmobile Nationals in Milwaukee WI. The driveability of this car is equal to everything else or maybe even better. The turbo operates with the boost as it should making it a thrilling experience in early 60's experimental high performance. This car has no squeaks, no rattles...just a lot of eyeball. Buyer to pay all shipping/transporting charges. *** Please note that I have more photos available and will be happy to foward to you upon request.
