You are bidding on what I call my retirement toy. I started building and racing hot rods when I was 13 years old and after sending all the kids to college I felt I deserved a toy to play with during my retirement years. The only thing I didn't take into account was my health and unfortunately It took a turn for the worse where I can't do much of anything. So it’s time to sell. Being a mechanical engineer I did a lot of research on the car and had enough time and energy to add some performance upgrades. This is a Saleen Cobra Coupe number 99-325. It was equipped with a 4.6L 4V DOHC V8. There were 20 total Saleen Cobras made in1999, 8 of which were coupes. They were all produced in Irvine CA and all of the coupés were delivered to Sarasota Ford for sale. Because of the Ford recall on the defective Cobra upper intake manifolds Saleen contracted with 3 of the larger aftermarket supercharger companies to help develop and tune packages for the new intake manifolds. Saleen #325 was sent to ATI Procharger for development and the car was sent to Fordspeed.com in Tampa to install an 8-lb supercharger air to air intercooler, computer chip and dyno tune the car. The rest of the car was performance saleen 3" Borla exhaust, 3.73 rear gear ratio, independent rear suspension and Recaro racing seats. It dynode out to 478hp I bought the car from a lawyer from Dallas,Texas who told me the only thing wrong with the car was the PATS security system would cut out the engine but it only happened once in a while and Ford told him it probably a floating ground problem. Because the car was so beautiful I wanted to believe him and after several hundred dollars and three months of troubleshooting I found that it was due to the logic burned into the chip that was added for supercharging. Honest lawyer, Right! I replaced the computer with a rebuilt EEC-V then proceeded to remove the heads to checkout valves, valve train, air intake etc. Everything was in real good shape. Cleaned-up the valves, did some mild porting and polishing, replaced the injectors from 36# to 42# Hi-performance injectors and replaced the 70mm MAF with a lightening 90mm MAF.I am also including a SCT-BA3000 billet aluminum big air MAF new in the box - $284.00. These are the best on the market. The suspension is in good shape. The car drives straight and true with ands off the steering wheel. I bought the car April 2007 and only put on 2,941 miles. The rear tires are brand new with less than 2,000 miles on them and are Goodyear Eagle 275/35ZR18 and the front tires are Pirelli's 255/35ZR18 which have good rubber. They came with the car. Just look at the photos. The body is in excellent condition and the paint is beautiful. It has a deep luster with depth and will reflect objects without distortion. The Ford Rio Red Clearcoat is a beautiful color and no matter where I go it draws people. I attended the Myrtle Beach Mustang week last year and I was shocked at the interest and praise I received especially when they find out its a 1999. The car also has a great sound and it’s hard not to know it’s supercharged. I've driven quite a few cars that moved and this Saleen is fast. Third gear is amazing and pulls beyond the redline. There is a lot left in this engine. I have taken excellent care of it and with the upgrades I made I know horsepower increased and with the computer change you don't need chips, it can be programed and the programs can be saved on the SCT and downloaded. I never beat this car but I got into it with a Rouch and Camaro and I smoked the Chevy and was right there with 2009 Rouch.. If it were not for my health I would not think of selling this car but I have to. I have put a very fair reserve on the car and it is worth every dollar.The car cones with 2 tunes. One by Tuning By James LLC, Longwood, FL 37752 and a second more aggressive tune by JDM Engineering, Freehold, NJ 07728. JDM campaigns several Mustangs in the NHRA and thats the more aggressive tune. Both told me that the car should be set-up on a dyno. You can cal them for info. This programing cost me $600.00 and have been downloaded on the SCT. The car is presently running on the tuning by James program. Both have websites you should visit. What is wrong with it? Saleen comes with ground effects and the section on the front end is very low to the ground and has several small chips from the road. The passenger side rear ground effect has a small area of spider webbing but not real noticeable. The driver seat has a wear area where the past owner slid his butt getting in the car. That has to be repaired. The last thing is that the new components were not set for wide open throttle and dyno tuned. I’m sorry I stopped at this point but after talking to my doctor I haven’t done much of anything. It runs good but it needs to be set-up at higher rpm and WOTThe car needs brake pads. I was going to change the rotors to drilled and slotted but never got around to it. They still have some life but should be replaced..
