Built June 26, 1961 VW Single Cab Drop Gate Pickup. Safari Windshield as well as safari rear window. Dual Treasure Chests, hard to find as most are single. Even more rare, the original transaxle reduction gear boxes are still in place! Upgraded with a 1973 1600 dual port motor, converted to 12 volt. This truck has been completely gone through and is well sorted out and dialed in, ready for someone to enjoy. New tires, KYB shocks, carburetor, fuel pump, VDO fuel tank sending unit, brakes including hydraulics. It fires right up, runs strong and smooth, shifts nicely, drives down the road straight and true, rides great and stops as it should. No rattles or squeaks anywhere! A blast to drive and attracts a tremendous amount of attention from young and old alike. Pearl white and red clearcoat looks amazing. Chrome moon hubcaps with matching chrome trim rings really pop. Bed is white Rhinoshield to protect it forever. Floors, frame and chassis are all solid, no rust or rot. Body is 100% solid as well, but far from perfect. It is NOT show quality. I would call it a strong #3+ condition. There are 4 paint bubbles (see additional pics) , 2 above gate hinges, but all hinges and the gates are solid, just paint lifting. Other 2 are dime size and on chest door and passenger door. Other imperfections I tried to capture in the Photobucket pictures.This is not a show winning vehicle, but a great looking, sound and solid truck you can drive anywhere (under 60 top speed of course!).
