This 1987 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet combines the legendary style of the 80's Ferraris with state of the art (for its day) technological innovations and convenient 2+2 seating. That's right! This is a ragtop Ferrari the whole family can enjoy! This car has been pampered. It comes with the original tools, tonneau cover, boot, etc. The car's paint is practically perfect. The interior is also in exceptional shape. This car is a bargain and needs very little to be a Platinum winning car at any Ferrari show. The 80 year old man who parted with this car so we could have it did not give us the service records. It will come to you ready with a full belt service ready to roll and should be low maintenance for the coming years. This car is at the end of its depreciation and can only go up in value. Treat this car right, and you can put a Ferrari notch in your belt for the ownership cost of a Honda Accord! This car has the following noteworthy items: 1) The top has had one small tear that was previously repaired. It was done properly and does not detract from the function nor the aesthetics of the top. 2) The rear windows work, but are slow to go up and down. The right rear window needs the help of a finger occasionally to go up. Not worth fixing until it doesn't work anymore (in my opinion). Here's a bit about the Mondial taken from a review: The History of the Mondial Model: In 1974, Sergio Pininfarina was disappointed his company did not have the opportunity to design the 308 GT4. In 1980, his patience was rewarded with the debut of Ferrari’s new 2+2, the Mondial 8. This was a return from Bertone’s origami lines to Ferrari-traditional Pininfarina curves. The name, meanwhile, referenced Ferrari’s four-cylinder mid-1950s sports-racing cars. Underpinnings closely mirrored those of the GT4, with a sturdy tubular steel chassis, independent suspension, transversely mounted 3.0-liter V-8, and five-speed gearbox. In two notable changes, the wheelbase was lengthened some 4 inches (100mm) for better interior packaging and space, and a separate subframe carried the engine and transmission. This latter item allowed the drivetrain to be unbolted and removed more quickly for easier servicing. Ferrari had introduced the Mondial as the top model of their V8 series. Replacing the relatively spartan 308 GT4, the Mondial leaned more toward the luxurious Ferrari 400 GT than its sporty V8 siblings. It featured more electronic accessories than any Ferrari before it and was a showcase of new technology throughout its production. Much of this technology marked the future of Ferrari Automobiles. The Mondial, through its various iterations, was the first V8 Ferrari to feature fuel injection, electronic ignition, automatic climate control, anti-dive suspension, ABS brakes, cockpit-adjustable suspension, power steering, t-type transaxle, and an automatic clutch. In 1982, Ferrari improved the Mondial's performance notably by installing its new quattrovalvole (four valve) V-8. The change injected real snap into the Mondial’s performance. The four-valve Mondial ran to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and to 100 mph in 16.2; its two-valve test car needed 8.5 and 25 seconds, respectively. “Quattrovalvole has effected a miracle cure,” the British magazines noted, “and Ferrari’s mid-engine trio (of V-8s) are back running strongly in the supercar league where they belong.” Things got even better in 1984 with the unveiling of the Mondial Cabriolet, the first convertible Ferrari since the 1970s Daytona Spyder. Its open-air design and good performance had everyone smiling. “We now feel Ferrari has a Mondial with raison d’etre,” Road & Track’s test summed up. “Faster, better looking with wind-in-the-hair driving and all the attention from the sidelines you can handle ...” The Mondial 3.2 appeared in 1985, the redesignation signifying a larger, stronger V-8 (3.2-liters, 260-270 horsepower), as seen in the 328 GTB & GTS. The Mondial coupe and Cabriolet also got minor appearance updates with bumpers that matched the body color and new wheels. Antilock brakes were introduced in 1987. Many Ferrari folks consider the Mondial the most useful car out of Maranello, and thus the most coveted in any realistic day-in day-out sense.” I really like Mondials. They have large doors and a high seat, so you enter gracefully rather than flailing around before sitting on the ground. There’s plenty of leg- and headroom, and the steering wheel adjusts. When you drive a Mondial you feel like an adult. It’s a safe bet that anyone who knocks a Mondial hasn’t driven one. The seating position is excellent and the handling is good. The large steering wheel makes the non-assisted steering on the early models pleasant. The cabriolet drives nicely and is free from the cowl shake that plagues many convertibles. Each of the four generations of Mondials is a significant improvement over the previous model. The first version, the 1980 Mondial 8, should be avoided. They are under-powered and prone to engine issues, electrical demons, and rust. If you can steal one to drive until it’s dead, you might be okay, but any money spent on restoration is wasted. The 1983 Mondial Quattrovalvole was a big step up. Power increased as much as 60 hp, rust issues seemed to subside, and a cabriolet version, Ferrari’s first open top model in ten years, was added to the lineup. With the 1986 Mondial 3.2, Ferrari started to get it right. New body-colored bumpers actually made the Mondial attractive. The 3.2-liter engine made it spirited, and interior updates eliminated electrical issues and improved an already attractive space. No Ferrari polarizes enthusiasts like a Mondial. You either like them or hate them. There’s defensible logic on both sides. My friend figures that being able to drive a Ferrari for less than the cost of new Honda is a pretty good deal. Nice Mondials are getting rare. If you find one under $30,000, grab it and ride the appreciation curve up. We will refuse any other offers on the vehicle and will begin preparing the vehicle and documents for your delivery. Any financing arrangements are strictly between you and the lender and do not impact your contract to purchase the vehicle. The deposit is not refundable if you change your mind or if you cannot obtain financing on the vehicle. Should you need us to hold the car beyond the week, we ask for a deposit of $500 for every $10,000 of vehicle value. This will protect you as well as us. SHIPPING We work with several shipping companies and are quite pleased to assist you in getting quotes and arranging pickup of the vehicle. That said, any shipping contract is between you and the shipping company selected. Car Connections USA, Inc and its employees, directors and managers bear no resposibility for delays in shipping, damage to or loss of the vehicle once it is in the shippers control or any other liability related to the shipment of your vehicle. When the shipper picks the vehicle up at our facility, we will review the condition of the vehicle with the driver and will sign a Bill of Lading describing any deficiencies or cosmetic blemishes noted during our walkaround. Many shippers try to protect their liability by marking the Bill of Lading as though the car has hundreds of imperfections. We will not allow this to happen. We encourage you to examine the vehicle closely upon its arrival and to take up any concerns about damage or cosmetic imperfections at the time of arrival BEFORE SIGNING THE BILL OF LADING. Once you sign the Bill of Lading, the shipper is realeased from liability and you are on your own. Should you find surprise damage and see that it is on the Bill of Lading, please contact us promptly and email us the Bill of Lading. We will compare it to our copy and notify you of any discrepancies. Some shippers damage a vehicle and simply document the damage on the Bill of Lading as though it existed at the time they picked it up. We describe our vehicles and find it VERY unlikely that you would find a surprise upon arrival. Keys, Books, Nav Disc What you see is what you get. We try our best to procure books and extra keys from the previous owners. That said, we do not always have all keys, books, floormats, or other accessories for every car. Therefore, we can only guarantee you will receive the accessories that are photographed. For instance, if we show a navigation display with a map, there is a navigation disc with the car. If we show books and keys in the photos, you can count on getting those with the car. If you do not see it, please assume the item is not included or email to confirm. Occasionally, the previous owner will send us these materials after we have photographed the car. In these instances, we will make sure to forwrd them to you as the new owner. We encourage you to email us or call if you are concerned about specific items like floor mats, spare keys, nav discs, DVD headsets, etc. Vehicle Mileage I started this business as a result of my love for cars. Many of these cars are driven during the course of our sale. Accordingly, vehicle mileage may vary from that stated in the auction due to test drives, maintenance, and other use. This mileage should not exceed 1,000 miles over the reading stated in our listing. We appreciate your understanding of this matter. Balance of Factory Warranty We estimate factory warranty expiration dates using vehicle production dates and Carfax information. We are not responsible for factory warranty expiration dates, remaining warranty time, type, validity, or other information. If you want to be certain of the exact warranty expiration date, terms, validity, etc., please verify this information with a certified franchise dealer of the applicable car make. In the course of business, we try to match our risk with areas where we have control over our service level. We hope you understand this. Transfer of Title and Risk We insure the vehicles on our lot during the time we have them available for sale. Upon completion of the financial elements of the transaction (you paying us), we encourage you to insure the vehicle from that date forward. We bear NO RESPONSIBILITY for anything that happens to your vehicle once it is out of our control. Vehicles left at our facility for more than 3 days after payment will not be covered by our insurance unless previous arrangements have been made in writing prior to payment. Inspection Every one of our cars goes through a visual and basic safety inspection. During this inspection, we look for previous repairs, both mechanically and cosmetically. We offer every car which passes our inspection with an available extended maintenance contract (warranty) at additional cost. This Contract enables you to have the vehicle serviced at your choice of repair facilities, including franchise dealerships. We are a qualifying dealer able to offer this warranty because of our inspection process and track record for selling quality vehicles. Cars which we cannot certify will not be sold unless specifically disclosed as such in our advertising. We are not responsible for other state inspections. We also strongly encourage buyers to make an inspection of the vehicle prior to completing their transaction. This can be done in person, through an independent repair facility or local body shop within 10 miles of 19380. We will coordinate the transportation to and from such a facility cheerfully to help you gain comfort on the condition of the vehicle. We are committed to accurately describing the condition of the vehicles we sell, but realize that a forgiveable blemish to one eye may be unacceptable damage to another. We disclose any known defects in our vehicles. An independent look at a vehicle is the safest way to ensure everyone's happy. FEES Our auctions have no hidden fees. All vehicles are subject to a $108 Documentary fee. This fee covers the paperwork involved in transferring a vehicle into your name. It applies to dealers, wholesalers, international transactions, priests, you get the gist. We also offer a 30 day transit tag for buyers from outside of PA. This tag is available at a cost to you of $55 and we will need an insurance card and driver's license to issue this tag. The last optional service is a Vehicle Prep Package. For $185 we will make sure the vehicle is detailed professionally and has a full tank of premium fuel when you pick it up. This may sound odd to you, but we often ship cars, in which case they are sent with very little fuel at the request of the shipping company. Condition Report We strive to disclose each and every blemish on a vehicle when we create our listings. The stated overall condition of the vehicle, whether it may be termed showroom, clean, mint, or otherwise, is determined upon the model year & mileage of the car in comparison to other cars of similar age & miles. This is a pre-owned car, and buyers must be aware that ordinary wear is associated with all pre-owned cars. We do our best to photograph any imperfections which we feel may be noticeable or offensive to a prospective buyer. Keep in mind that not all imperfections can appear on a digital photo. Most cars may have touch-ups, door dings, scratches, scuffs, seat or interior wear but we do our best to ensure that none of these issues takes away from the overall appearance of the car. If a car has 10 scratches, we will reference those 10 scratches verbally and show a photograph of the one we perceive to be the most offensive.
