Vehicle Detail

1967 Mustang C code Fastback 289 cu. in. V8, automatic, power steering, buckets seats, console. Original red w/ red interior. Tinted glass, 70's BBS wheels. Mustang Fastbacks are meeting and in some cases exceeding prices for comparable Convertibles. Fewer early Fastbacks survived than Convertible models. Many were hot-rodded, raced, wrecked , poorly cared for and used for Shelby clones. Ford has re-released a new Shelby and other hi-performance Mustangs, renewing interest in the early cars. All the new Pony's resemble the Fastback - Coincidence ? The 1967/68 models were a more muscular change from the 65/66 series and Steve McQueen elevated them to cult like status by chasing a Dodge Charger through the streets of San Francisco in the iconic chase scene from "Bullitt". The Fastback Mustang should continue to climb in value and this is a great opportunity to own great example at a reasonable reserve. It's a great driver as is, or ideal candidate for full restoration. According to the previous owners this car spent its entire life in Nevada and Arizona. It does not appear that this Mustang ever had any major accidents or body repair. At some point in the past it was treated to a repaint of mediocre quality. There are areas on the roof where paint is lifting off (see pics). This car is solid and uncut. There are some areas of minor rust. During storage the passenger side of the car was exposed to occasional rain. Small amounts collected in the lower passenger quarter panel and the rear passenger floorboard. As a result the very lower area of the right side inner & outer 1/4 panel, as well as the lowest rear tip of the wheel housing have some rust through, as does a small area in the right rear floorboard around the drain-plug (see pics), where the rear-seat passenger feet would be placed. There is also rust below the battery box due to acid and a small amount at the upper shock tower seam area. These are common areas for the Mustang to be affected, but easy to take care of and its still a super solid car. The trunk floor, frame-rails, rocker panels, floors, doors, cowl, vent box, fenders, quarters, etc. are in excellent condition. Even the factory chalk mark is still on the firewall. The interior appears to be the original red vinyl and red carpet. It is OK and presentable for a driver, but the carpet is faded, the sun dried out the rear upper seat edges and some of the the seams are coming apart. The dash pad has been removed. Gauges work. Headliner, door panels & rear covers are good. The odometer shows 88,329 miles, and may be the correct mileage, but the Arizona title states that the odometer is in excess of mechanical limits so actual mileage cannot be verified. This Mustang had been in storage for years and received a new gas tank, fuel line, fuel pump, carburetor, starter solenoid, battery cables & alternator, when it was resurrected. The 289 V8 runs well, sounds good and does not appear to smoke or have any issues. Chrome valve covers and chrome air filter dress up the engine compartment. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and reverse is tight. The brakes work fine but the pedal is soft, so some service may be required. Tires have dry cracking from age and need to be replaced. Has period BBS rims and comes with a full set of original hubcaps. All the lights including turn signals appear to be operational. All in all this is a great example of an appreciating automotive icon that can be enjoyed as is or used for a drama-free cosmetic or full restoration. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best provide any information you may need. I have an extensive set of pictures of all aspects of the car and can send them to interested parties. The car is available for inspection locally in Scottsdale, Arizona and can be shown on appointment. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
