Vehicle Detail
1987 BMW 535is Automatic for sale. I purchased this E28 in December of 2011 with 221,000 miles for $2100. In the last 9 months, the following work has been done: 12/26/11: Post Purchase Inspection and Oil change ($73.98) 12/27/11: Frame measured. Measures square/Checks ok. ($195) Note* Both the PPI and frame measuring was something I elected to do before I began to spend money on sorting this car. There were no prior signs of accidents or any structural damage whatsoever, in fact the original VIN decals can be found on the panels and it appears to have all the original glass. 12/29/11: 2 Bilstein H.D. front strut inserts installed, 1 left tie rod assembly installed, right and left upper control arm(110x 2) installed, right and left lower control arm (75x2) installed, 1 steering box bolt extracted and new installed, alignment done. ($1892.61) 1/24/11: Rebuilt power steering pump installed, PSP reservoir to pump hose installed, PSP reservoir filter installed and system flushed, 2 muffler hangers replaced. ($761.11) 1/25/11: (4) 16" BBS "Open"/exposed lug basket weave wheels purchased. The wheels were blasted and taken down to bare aluminum. They were then sent away to paint and refinished in Silver.($820.00) 1/25/11: 225/50-R16 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs purchased from Tire Rack. ($603.51) 3/5/12: Suspension inspected. All 4 axel boots replaced. ($473.11) 4/11/12: Oil Change. All exterior lightening inspected. 2 Electrical connectors replaced and Brake light switch wiring repaired. ($215.74) 4/24/12: #6 Fuel Injector and fuel hose replaced. ($387.77) 5/21/12: Drive belts inspected and replaced. ($153.83) 5/28/12: Cooling system inspected. Hose and expansion tank cap replaced ($40) 6/19/12: Hood latch release inspected and cable repaired. ($30) 7/9/12: Oil pressure switch replaced. Electrical connectors/brake light switch wiring addressed again. ($196.25) Note* I have all receipts/documentation (totaling over $5,000). Additionally, the following items have been replaced as well: All fuses and most bulbs (OEM). Airbox and intake tube (OEM). Driver's seat (used OEM). All speakers and amp (OEM). Antenna (OEM). Headlight switch panel (OEM). Glove box divider insert (OEM). Driver's side door lock cylinder (OEM). Various nuts, bolts, clips, etc. It's been fun but I'm in the market for a Touring and think I'm ready to move on. I'm pretty well acquainted with what this car needed and what it still needs. In the interest of being blunt, it's a driver...that's about it. The paint is flat, to the point of excessive fade on the hood and roof (see pictures). Dash is cracked. A/C blower motor works but is not cold. Sunroof is InOp as well as the windshield wiper motors. Rear speakers and amp needed to be wired up. One of the brake lights will come on...or not, depending on what day it is. Rear differential bushing is cracked and should be replaced sometime soon. Oil pan needs to be replaced. Trunk rubber(gasket) is weathered and could be replaced. Driver''s side seat belt receptacle is InOp. I have a number of parts that will be included in the sale such as OEM Oil pan(cleaned and ready for install), Oil pan gasket, Fuse box, Trunk liner gasket(new), Euro rear head rests, and various other bits. Current mileage is 233k.. Wheels have ZERO curb rash since recondition/repaint. Inspections on site or at a shop of your choosing welcomed.
