*1968 Plymouth SPORT FURY Convertible* Before you is my 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible *One of only 2487 Sport Fury convertibles built for model year 1968. *Purported to be a two family owned car, originally purchased in California and now presently in Colorado. *A solid car throughout. (floors, frame, frame rails) I lifted the trunk mat last week and found slight surface rust underneath it. I discarded the mat, wire brushed the pan and was then going to apply a rust inhibitor/primer and a spray undercoating. I have held off on this and will leave it up to the new owner to address as they see fit, for once undercoating is applied, it's pretty much permanent...a pic illustrates the surface extent. *Very low miles, only 79,156! *Garaged & pampered, non smoker, no pets. *95% Original components, fender tag still present. *Restorative work performed in 2005 consisted of the following: *Complete rebuild of the original 318 V8 engine w/a new Holley 2 bbl. carburator. It starts every time, first crank & holds a smooth idle. *Assuredly, there are NO annoying drips or leaks anywhere! *Dual free flow exhaust system provides a nice rumble. *Fuel tank was removed, cleaned and resealed. *The AC was removed and not reinstalled. It would need a new compressor, condensor, lines, etc. *Rebuild of the 3-speed, factory 727 torque flite automatic transmission, it shifts very smoothly. *Front end rebuild, tie rods, control arms, ball joints & shocks, it feels tight and does not jump around. *Power steering and power brake car. The drums were turned, the brake booster was rebuilt. The emergency brake holds and releases properly. The steering is light & easy, the Fury floats! *Fully block sanded & repainted in the correct factory code Plymouth TT-1, Avocado Green. The paint finish still presents with a nice luster. *All Sport Fury's had vinyl interiors, the front & rear seats retain their vinyl sides and backing. The seating areas have been upholstered in color matching soft velour fabric. *The power top operates properly in both up & down modes. New pinpoint vinyl top, NO holes or tears. Nice inside pad. The rear window is slightly clouded as a result of a young family member not being aware to use only water when cleaning. *New parade boot *New Dash Pad *Newer tires w/5 original hubcaps that while showing some color fade, are not curb rashed or dinged up. *Nice original loop carpet with no holes or heel wear patterns, new floor mats. *Door panels & sun visors are in good shape *Console is likewise, in good shape with a minor stress crack towards the rear, (see pic) *Nice kick panels *All original glass throughout, no cracks. All windows track properly through their up and down motions. The side vent windows crank open and close tightly. *Window gaskets and weather stripping are decent, however, they are starting to show their age. The trunk gasket shows the most age. *Decent trim and brightwork, the rear bumper was tweaked when it was hit anonymously in a parking lot. It could be straightened. The rear Sport Fury aluminum panel is dinged, these are readily available and the same as on the hardtop car. (many more available) *The chrome is presentable on both bumpers with no flakes, chips or pitting. *The original Am radio does not play, the antenna stalk is included, it does however, need to be reattached. *The clock tells the correct time twice each day! Forget what time it is...when you're in the Sport Fury, it's time to have fun! *The horn is operable, the horn rim is broken. A replacement is included. *Lighter is operable and does accept a phone cord *Original owners manual, jack & keys *All lights, high & low beams, dash, vanity, side markers, directionals and even the top fender turn signals are functional. *All features and equipment including the instrument gauges are operational. (radio & windshield washer excluded, washer resevoir was brittle & removed) *All knobs, buttons, and stalks are present *Recent service included a new battery, filters, all fresh fluids, belts & hoses, etc. The Sport Fury looks, runs & drives great! While it is not a show car, it is a very presentable driver quality 44 year old example of American automotive history. The Fury can be driven anywhere with pride of ownership. It always garners compliments and receives the..."thumbs up"! Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid. Thank you.
