Vehicle Detail
They only made a limited number of these with the classic body (108 Chassis) and the then newly developed fuel injected V-8 engines (Engine Type 117) from late 1971 through 1972. This one is titled in 1973 so it is one of the last ones imported to The US. That V-8 engine went into the 450 SEL models from 1972 through 1980. I have owned it since 2000 when I bought it with a little over 81,000 miles on it. It now has about 93,000 miles on it. It has the wood trimmed dash, original AM/FM w/ power antena, power windows and central locks, on-the-column-3-speed, "Mercedes Leatherette" seats, and the factory A/C. I have had it repainted and maintained the interior is in immaculate shape. I have constantly kept all mechanicals in working order and have, over the years, changed the muffler and exhaust piping, fuel tank, alternator, starter, etc. Break systems were re-built this year. The rear axel bearing gave out last year so the rear axel was replaced. I just put 4 new tires on it, not because of the wear but because they were replaced when I bought the car and they were 12 years old. Battery, coils and wiring, and many other parts have been replaced regualarly and as needed. The air conditioning system is running low on charge but I plan on having it charged up soon. This car can be driven and should be enjoyed every day but I have had too many toys to put any time or mileage on the car. The odometer stopped working last summer and I had the car sitting at the mechanic's shop for a year while he was changing the rear axel, re-building the break master cylinder, and looking for another odometer to replace this one. He gave up on the odometer after a year and I picked up the car a month ago and have had it sit in the garage since. I rather sell it now, when the mileage can be verified by the mechanic, than drive it around and have the mileage become suspect and cannot be verified. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the auction close. Please ask as many questions as you like before bidding. I will try to answer as many as I can. Serious inquiries only please. We all have way too many other things to do :) Buyer is responsible for shipping or transportation otherwise, within 7 days of the auction close with full payment. Thank you.
