Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 2008 Dodge Ram Laramie SRW 3500, 4x4 Mega Cab, Long Bed. 20,301 pampered miles. Re-listing due to deadbeat local buyer. The auction will not be stopped unless I have a check in my hand for the Buy it now, or the end of the auction, whichever comes first. I purchased it new from the local Dodge Dealer February, 2008. The truck has been garage kept most of its life (not all garages are big enough) and very well cared for all of its life. I still have the original keys, books, and everything else that it came with (except the short bed….) I special-ordered the truck without a factory Navigation system (overpriced at $2,000 and was horrible to use) and without a Sunroof (overpriced, they eventually fail, and I mainly wanted more head-room), and side-impact airbags (local dealers would leave them off to keep the price lower). It was only $250 more at the time to order it as a 3500 1-Ton instead of 2500 ¾ ton, so I did that as well, but kept the single-rear-wheels for the same level of width & maneuverability -- and because I didn’t/don’t have anything heavier than a 6,000 pound camp trailer to tow. It was ordered with the 40/20/40 split front seats, as I wanted the ability to seat a 6th person in the truck if needed. The big picture was that I picked the Dodge for the same reason most people do – the Mega Cab – and most of all, the Cummins diesel. An inline 6 cylinder is usually accepted to be inherently more reliable than a V8 -- just look at most semi-trucks on the road. Basically, I wanted a family-truck that would last for as long as I could possibly make it last. Upgrades: My mindset on upgrades was to enhance the visibility, look, function, and protection of the truck, as I had intended to own it for 20+ years and wanted to make it last as long as it possibly could in immaculate condition. 1. Weathertech floor liners almost since day one. I still have the original floor mats, but they were removed from the truck a few weeks after I bought it, and the Weathertech floor liners were put in. The carpet beneath the floor liners is in new condition. 2. The DualLiner Bed liner. It’s a 5-piece setup – a large, thick mat to protect the bed floor, and 4 panels to protect the bed sides and tailgate. They have never been off of the truck, but it is easy to lift up the end of the mat and show there is no damage whatsoever to the bed. 3. Rampage LED light strip mounted between the tailgate and bumper with running lights, reverse lights, brake & turn signals. They’re great at enhancing your visibility in traffic. 4. Tekonsha Prodigy trailer brake controller plugged into the factory wiring harness. This thing is AWESOME! All original paperwork for it is included. 5. Truxedo roll-up Tonneau cover. Keeps stuff out of the elements, and yet doesn’t eliminate your ability for your truck to actually haul something. It has served me well. 6. Bushwacker fender flares. They both protect the sides of the truck a little, and enhance the look a little with the two-tone paint. Oh yeah – and the Long Bed Conversion! It eliminates the main shortcoming of a standard mega-cab truck. It was done by Innovative Customs in Utah. It was done the same way many others do it (as I understand it). The one-piece Aluminum drive line from the factory is replaced with a 2-piece drive line with a carrier bearing. There is a custom-made, longer, one-piece brake line made, so you’re not splicing into the factory brake lines. It includes a custom wiring harness extension and extension of the factory exhaust system. If you want to know more about this shop or conversion, you can check out the story that diesel power magazine did on them in 2008:http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/dodge/0803dp_dodge_mega_cab_long_bed/I have a bunch of paperwork including weld inspections and an invoice for the long-bed extension that will be included with the truck. I’ve never had a tuner/programmer, egr blocker or dpf delete kit on this truck – I didn’t need the extra power and didn't drive it enough to justify those things. My goal was to retain a somewhat stock look, so my pickup didn’t scream “look at me!” at everyone that saw it. I mainly wanted a “classy” looking truck that was very functional. So what’s wrong? Not much of anything. Like any pickup that has seen at least a little use, there is wear on the paint of the fender flares from dirt from the road, and scuffs on the front driver’s side fender flare where I lightly brushed up against something while backing a trailer into a very tight spot. There is SURFACE rust on the frame & undercarriage that could be easily cleaned up. It’s an Idaho truck, which means there is no salt put on the roads – just sand & gravel, and there is very little humidity. Other than those two things, the truck is flawless. I’ve never seen the “DPF Full” light come on (or whatever it says). We live in a rural area and 98% of the miles on the truck are honest highway/interstate miles. Of the 20,301 miles it does have, 5% or less of them was spent towing anything. The truck has had all required maintenance since new, which would be 4 oil changes and 2 fuel-filter changes. One of the mirrors was replaced under warranty because the motor in it failed. Other than that, there have been no repairs. The maintenance records will be included with the truck. I'll send the winner home with a detailed truck, a fresh oil change, and a full tank of diesel. Other miscellaneous items: There is NO wear on the side of driver’s seat that you would normally see from getting in and out of a vehicle. The interior is Dodge’s version of a Tan (“Khaki”) colored interior, but unless you’re looking at it in direct sunlight, it looks pretty grey (The color-palette guys at Dodge were probably stuck under the wrong fluorescent lights....) The truck is always warmed up for a few minutes before being driven. This is basically a “brand new, 4 year old truck”. Save $20,000 to $30,000 over buying & stretching & accessorizing a new one, and get this one instead. So why in the world am I selling my Dream Truck? Basically, my priorities in life are shifting a little bit, and I can put the money towards something (paying down my house) that can be better utilized by my family than a truck that is rarely driven. My loss is your gain on this one. I have a clear title in hand. Payment terms are Wire Transfer, Verifiable Cashier’s check, Certified Bank Check, or Verifiable Money Order. Payment must be verified and have cleared my bank account before the truck goes anywhere. I can pick the buyer up at the Boise, Idaho Airport. If you don't like what you see, I'll take you back to the airport and refund all your money. Once you drive off with the truck, you own it. There is no warranty, expressed or implied. I've done everything I can possibly do to keep it in perfect condition. The truck is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction if someone local hands me a check for the buy-it-now price. With that being said though, the reserve price is much less than the “buy it now” price. Thanks for putting up with the long description -- I hope my truck goes to a good home who will appreciate it as much and use it more than I have.
