Vehicle Detail
This car has not been trading hands and on and off the market for the last 52 yrs. In fact, since 1961, when it was purchased from a starving artist in Manhattan, it has had only one owner. Early on it participated in Porsche club Gymkanas, and time distance street rallies. Then, 20 yrs ago a divorce forced it to be parked. Unfortunately thats where the love stopped, and it was forced outside. This almost complete car is in need of a new home. As you can see in the pictures, it has the motor and transmission, all its glass and body panels, its complete interior, wheels ,tires ,brakes , suspension, and even hubcaps. The original Blaupunkt radio, antennae, and amp with speakers are still there. Even the windshield washer bag is intact. It has its original jack and fiberboard battery cover with spring, two horns, sun visors, rear view mirror, seatbelts, and the seats are hard, but not split or torn. It sits on Dunlop Radial Tube Type Rayon 165 HR 15's with 4 correct date coded wheels 5/59. It has all its guages and matching white knobs, even a cigarette lighter. The steering wheel has a full circle horn ring, and the crest is in nice shape. The brakes are drum style all around and are the correct original two vane drums that came on the 1959's, and will need to be rebuilt, but are complete. The motor has not run in 20 yrs, and is currently not running or driving, it will need work, but was running when parked, and was told "it was the most dependable car I ever owned" by the owner. It has Dual single throat Solex carburettors, the correct distributor, and peripherls and is the correct displacement 4 cyl pushrod "normal", 1600cc, but not a numbers matching motor, and was told it now has a "roller crank". Engine # 730152 type 616/15. Trans # 69 type 716/0 . The transmission is numbers matching, as is the rear decklid /engine cover. What is missing? Side mirror, bumpers, d/s inner door handle, front hood crest, "Porsche 1600" emblem, tool kit, keys, and spare tire. The floors are completely rusted away, as well as door bottoms, and rocker panels. The driver side door glass is broken, but intact. There are some dents on roof and nose. It has some extra goodies not all 356's have, the rear suspension has a Camber compensator, for better handling in its early sporting days, as well as Red Koni shocks all around. It was registered in NY, and comes with a Bill of Sale. It can be delivered within 50 miles within one week, at auction end, or further if neccesary at additional cost after final sale. Can help arrange overseas shipping. Terms, must have $750 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of winning bid. Balance upon pickup or other arrangements must be made. PLEASE DONT BID UNLESS WILLING TO BUY. Located in Western Connecticut USA . Feel free to ask any questions, I will try to respond as promt as I can.
