Vehicle Detail
This is a clean, original, unmolested all-American classic car with all paperwork including original invoice, and documentation of ownership since the day it was sold. Originally sold in California when new, I bought this car in late 2005 and have put around 1,000 miles on the original 351C engine that now has a total of 123,240 miles on it. Runs very well, and cruises at highway speeds without effort, and no smoke from exhaust, no leaks on floor. Has been garaged all its life, never exposed to rain, and the undercarriage and body will attest to this. Automatic transmission, all original decals under hood, on glove compartment door, and other locations, and factory air-conditioning for the times when you have the top up. A/C was charged and working a few years ago but I have not used it since and it will probably need to be serviced. Big bench seats for six people. Tires have only 1,000 miles on them, and in 2006, I had all new springs, bushings, exhaust, rubber mounts placed, all fluids flushed. Car has been maintained very well; all service receipts included. Paint is original as well, some blemishes, including on driver’s door where first owner’s wristwatch used to touch the paint while he drove with top down and left arm partly out the door. This is a great car to drive and maintain as is, and enjoy the wonderful sound of factory dual exhaust system, heavy Detroit V-8 motor that pulls straight and solid down the highway with authority, and expansive hood with factory scoop, plus that feeling of old American iron that no modern car can capture. Convertible top was replaced by last owner, and it looks great. I have some odds and ends in the trunk (parts, trim items, etc.) that will go with the car. Bid if you are serious about purchase, the reserve price is set low enough that this vehicle will sell. It can be restored, but classic muscle cars look great in the original condition as well (in my opinion). This one turns heads and makes other drivers give a smile and a thumbs-up every time. The car has the expected imperfections typical of an original classic. Your best bet is to come and inspect it, and drive it yourself. If you are far away and serious about purchase, identify any mechanic or Ford dealer in Columbia, Missouri and I will drive the car for an inspection (you would pay for the inspection). If you win the auction, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required within 24 hours. Balance must be paid by cashier’s check or equivalent before the winning bidder comes to pick up the vehicle. You can drive it home, but probably best have this baby trailered or delivered by carrier. Ask questions before you bid; a number of photos are posted to show details. What you see is what you get, I have not buffed up the car, nor touched it up in any way. I would rather keep this car, but have too many toys and just not enough time. Again, a personal inspection of this nice car is strongly recommended. On Jul-06-12 at 08:54:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Wanted to update, so it is understood if you win this auction: If you win here is sequence I would need followed: deposit (whatever you have specified) to be made. full payment then made then, trip made to columbia to pick up. NO CASH or checks “when i pick up the car”. in other words, full payment before anyone comes here to pick up car. time for inspection is BEFORE making the bids. sorry, but this point has burned me badly before when selling cars on ebay. as for counseling driving back long distance, i would add: this is a car that is driven infrequently. only about 1,000 miles in over 5 years. prior to making a very long drive, it may be prudent to have a mechanic look it over, change fluids, check belts, water pump etc. because those wear-and-tear items can give out, especially on antique cars like this one that are suddenly put on the highway at sustained speeds over very long distances. On Jul-09-12 at 05:53:08 PDT, seller added the following information: In response to some questions that have been asked, the additional information is added: There is no rust on this car, other than isolated, very superficial surface markings that are not significant, and that are consistent with the claim of “no rust” on this vehicle. This is a very clean, original vehicle all over. The reserve price was the opening price, and the bids are already higher. If interested in buying this car, please enter your bid, since I will abide by eBay rules and carry this auction till the closing. To repeat, a personal inspection and test drive are strongly recommended, and if this is not possible, get an inspection of this car by any mechanic of your choice, at your expense. This will ensure your peace of mind and allow an independent set of eyes to see and evaluate the car on your behalf.
