Vehicle Detail
The car is located in north east Tennessee (Johnson City) I have a rare, clean, 1971 240Z for sale. Four speed, manual transmission. No A/C. Car comes with a decent Alpine, detachable face radio and MTX speakers. The original color is silver and the paint is in good condition. It was last painted in 1996. The only rust on the whole car is some small bubbles on the bottom on the passenger door that haven't broken through yet. The battery shelf was replaced with a riveted in steel shelf and then covered with fiberglass and then gray POR15. It looks great and is much stronger than the little, original shelf. The frame rails inside the engine bay are clean and not rusted. The hatch area and spare tire well are near perfect with no rust. When I got the car I used the state of the art, rust proof treatment POR15 on the floor boards, entire underside of the car and the wheel wells. The floor pans are gloss gray that matches the car and the underside and wheel wells are matte black. Both look amazing now and no more threat of rust. You truly can eat off the bottom of the car now! It has obviously spent most of it's life in a garage. It has not been outside or driven in the rain a single time in the last two years that I have owned the car. The first owner was a doctor that kept the car for 19 years until 1990. I am now the 5th owner in the last 41 years. Here is the best part for the new owner, I have spent $6800 on the car in new parts and labor in the past year. These are not old parts or made up receipts. Most of the parts are either factory Nissan/Datsun or purchased from Motorsport Auto in California. Everything is new and professionally installed. I have a two inch thick binder with every receipt since the car was new including the bill of sale, original owners manual, and series one brochure. The cam kit was just installed on June 29th. The new cam only has about 40 miles on it! I know it seems stupid to have spent all that money on the cam replacement only to sell the car immediately after but the car needed it. It had a nasty tap after the head work and that was the only solution. It's like a new car now. much faster, sounds like a V8, and throttle response is amazing. It truly breaks my heart to sell the car and especially at such a crushing loss. I am moving to Florida next week (July 13th) and I won't have a garage there at first and I would have to pay to have the car shipped down there as well. I may be forced to do this anyway because I am almost out of time. I'll be totally honest, I paid $5000 for the car and have put an additional $6800 into it. I now have $11,800 invested. I was a little shocked that it added up to that much but that's how it goes with old Zs. One thing leads to another and you get carried away. The truth is, if this car had a fresh, high quality repaint and finish up the small things, it would easily be a $13,000 to $15,000 car. If you have the ability to do it yourself or get a deal, you' be in this car very right. Please don't call and offer some crazy low, insulting price. $7500 is the fire sale price as it is. The sale will be either cash in hand, go to your bank in person together, certified funds, or a bank wire transfer. PAYMENT MUST BE CLEARED IN FULL BY July 13th. You get the car and the title. If the car doesn't sell this week, at this one time low, buy it now price, I will re-list the car as a standard auction sometime in the future possibly from Tampa, Fl. Thanks for your interest. I will provide more photos for anyone who is truly interested. This is one of those once in a lifetime, "my loss is your gain" stories that is actually true. Here are some of the highlights: POR15 rustproofing ($300) 30 hours of labor under the car new floor pan grommetsfactory Nissan inner shift boot Italian leather shift boot and emergency brake cover new glove box interior new floor and hatch insulation upgraded alternator ($120) new NGK spark plugs and plug wires Pertronix electronic ignition and coil ($110) new upholstery and seat foam on both seats ($750) new fuel pump, master cylinder, front wheel cylinders, front brake pads ($360) new ceramic coated 6 to 1 header from Motorsport Auto with full exhaust system ($600) new aluminum radiator ($180) full head service and gasket set ($600)engine block stripped and painted original Datsun blue K&N dual air cleaners and valve cover breather ($100) urethane bump stops, steering coupler, mustache bar inserts and rear differential mount ($200) new KYB struts front and rear ($600) new Motorsport Auto/Schneider cam kit. including cam, rockers, lash caps ($1130) (3) additional full sets of wheels (12) total (not all are pictured, only a sample of each type vintage "slot style" wheel set - this set is pretty rough but could be refinished vintage "four arm" wheel set - this set has be refinished and the tires are like new, very nice factory Nissan steel wheels - near mint condition (you must have these to use the Series One, Datsun "D" hubcaps) Original, Series One Datsun "D" style hubcaps - this set is in decent shape. I have the SEM, factory match, charcoal metallic paint to repaint them. Everyone knows these are the holy grail of 240Z hubcaps and a must for a serious collectors Z. This set alone goes for $250-$600 depending on condition and that is without the steel wheels to run them. IF you make my life easy, pay for the car in full, and pick it all up before my deadline of July 13th, I will include ALL of the wheels and hubcaps for a friendly buyer.
