Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1968 Coronet R/T. This car is in fairly good condition and has a lot of restoration potential. The title is clear and in my name so no problems there. As far as I know this car is an original vinyl top 440 R/T with the A833 4 speed and Dana 60 option. Please look over the fender tag options as I am not an expert at decoding it. The engine is not a 1968 440. It is a 1970 440 HP (stamped F440 HP) so somebody probably popped the original one years ago (not uncommon there). The car runs really strong and will peal the tires off anywhere in first gear. But with that being said, the motor and 4 speed are on the older side and can use some TLC like a tune up and trans adjustments. Clutch petal only returns about half way up and you have to use your toe to flick it up the rest of the way. Doesn't effect the clutch holding correctly thought. The engine compartment needs some good cleaning. Mice had made nests on top of the intake and valve covers. Some one added the electronic ignition and MSD coil. Intake is an early and rare Weiand WLSO single plane aluminum intake that doesn't require a "tin valley pan". There is a Holley 3310 vacuum secondary 750 on the motor, with a K&N air filter. Don't know the cam spects or much else inside the engine. There is a metal "Cam Plate" screwed to the fender that says, "This vehicle equipped with an Iskenderian Racing Cam." Not sure If that cam is still in the motor or not but it looks pretty unique (I haven't seen one before). The motor has headers added, and the exhaust is a new 2 1/2 inch system with the correct tips on the back. The car has been painted in the past, and as you can see in the pictures about one third of the paint is cracking. I am told it was painted with Enamel and that is why it is cracking. It was repainted in the original color. There is a few spots where the paint is cracked enough that some surface rust is showing (shown in the pictures). The drivers side front fender is the worst for that. The body is in really nice strait condition except for some of the rust areas that are fairly common on these older cars. There is some rust under the rear quarter panels like many do have. Inside the trunk has 2 small holes near the wheel wells. The rest of the trunk has some pretty good surface rust but still feels solid. The body panel is separating right by the drivers door (in pictures). Doesn't look to be from rust, just separated. The grill assembly and rear valance assembly are in really nice condition. Front grill has not been hit and is not broken anywhere (very rare for its age). Same with the rear valance, it is in really nice shape too. The stripe on the car is just a sticker and not the real decal. The car doesn't show a "stripe delete" so it should have the stripe. The Vinyl top is fairly new and in like new condition, with no signs of bubbles or rust underneath. Somebody in the past smoked the side and rear windows. They look pretty dark. It really makes the car look great but the windows may be too dark to be legal in some states (and obviously not original). The interior is in fairly good shape too. Car has the optional Tic-Tock-Tach dash. There is a Sun tach mounted on the steering wheel but the tach in the dash does work perfectly. The clock works too, but sticks all the time. There is a crack in the dash by the jockey box. The front and rear seats have recently been reupholster and look and feel like new. The carpet looks a little older but doesn't have any holes in it and is nice and black still. New wood grain stickers on the consul. Shifter boot is not torn anywhere. Guy before me had it stored in a barn for about 3 years so the mice ate some holes in the headliner but everything else seams mice free in the interior. The radio is an AM radio with an 8 track option. Radio works but the dial wheels don't like to work very well. I don't have an 8 track to see if it works. The tires are in really good shape with lots of tread left on them. They are nothing to fancy BF Goodrich Belted T/As 235-60-15. The rims are an older set of E/T 5 spoke Mag rims. Not original but period correct for its time frame. I have a box full of new Napa front end pieces like ball joints and tie rod ends that will go with the car. The car steering feels a little loose but after buying all those front end pieces I actually think it is in the power steering box. The shaft moves a lot before the tie rod ends move. Still is very drivable though the way it is now. Tires aren't wearing strange or cupping any. $500.00 deposit through Paypal is required with in 3 days of auction close. Payment of cash or direct deposit preferred. Possible cashiers check accepted, but funds must clear first. Up to the winning bidder to arrange for pickup and delivery. The car is located in Spokane Wa. I can help with delivery up to 200 to 250 miles from Spokane for Gas fee (negotiable). Please look the pictures over very carefully. Please ask any question you may have before you bid. Thanks for looking and/or bidding. On Jun-24-12 at 00:23:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that the gas tank sending unit started to leak last week. The solder let loose on the fuel line passing through the sending unit. I have a new sending unit, gasket, and locking ring on its way. Also, I have posted a lot more pictures on my Facebook page. To view these just send me a message with your E-mail address included, and I will send you the link to these pictures. On Jun-28-12 at 08:43:27 PDT, seller added the following information: The new stainless steel gas tank sending unit is in and appears to be working good. I have had a lot of people asking about the "Reserve price". I normally don't like to give out the reserve but the auction is close to the reserve and there are a lot of people asking about it. I have the reserve set at 15.000. I feel it is a very fair price and I feel the car is easily worth that and probably more. Please do not bid on this car if you don't plan on buying it. Please be respectful of that. For any questions I have not answered yet, feel free to message or call me (Randy) at 509-953-1241 pacific time zone. Thanks everyone for looking at this car and/or for bidding.
