Vehicle Detail

Up for bid, is a 1966 Austin Princess, 4 liter personal limo, by Vanden Plas coachworks of London. Commanly known as a "Poor mans Rolls", this Unique vehicle has all of its original parts. It is also believed that only 200 of these were made between 1957, to 1968, and 6-7 of them were made for the Queens fleet. It has also been told that she felt, that a Rolls Royce was to prestige for upper parliament to ride around in, so she had some made just for that purpose. I'm sure, if someone had the ability to do an "extensive" back ground search on the car, they could find out the "true" history of this unique, prestige ride. Using hydraulic dampeners, instead of the standard shock absorber, this car feels like it's floating on air as it moves down the road at a top speed of 85 mile per hour, and with a fuel consumption of 15 MPG, for a vehicle that weighs over 4,000 LBS. The car has been setting of almost 7 years now, and needs a total restoration that will bring this, "One of a Kind" car, up to standard, that will turn any head as it is being driven around by you, or your own personal chauffeur. The entire front end of the car, as well as the "boot" (trunk lid) is made of steel, while the rest of it is made from aluminum, thus reducing the weight of the vehicle. All of the chrome is original plating, but some will need to be redone. The back doors are suicide, while the front doors open in the conventional way. The entire interior trim of the car is made from burreled walnut, and has a luster like none other when finished. The original mohair headliner is still in tack, and was quite common for that era of car. With 2 jump (dicky) seats that fold up and down so more people can ride in the back. It has 4 wheel drum breaks, and a hydraulic jacking system that lifts the whole car, in case of a flat tire, and the spare tire has a compartment all its own, under the "boot" (trunk) so there is no storage room lost. I also have a copy of an original shop manual. You can see a video of the same type of car on you tube, under 1966 Austin Princess, and what it looks like in restored condition.
