Vehicle Detail
The car was originally found in a barn. It was stored on the son's property for his parents. With some effort and TLC it could be a Concourse Car. It is a numbers matching original. We purchased it Eight years ago. We bought it for our son. The intent was that he would work on it through High School and College and then he would have a classic concourse Mustang upon graduation. He moved a few weeks ago and left the car body, engine, trans in our garage with original interior parts in boxes and a new interior still in its original box. We have all the original parts. The car was originally towed to our garage and we began disassembling it with the intention to repair and re-assemble it. The data plate and the car is from early 1965. It is a straight six with a three speed manual trans. The number on the body matches the number on the data plate. It has a clear title. It needs some sheet metal work but could be transformed into a 289 vehicle. All the major or significant parts are original. The windshield was replaced by the previous owner but the side windows are original. While there is much rust, the transmission tunnel has good metal as does the firewall except for the passenger side. The floor boards under the seats are rusted through and the rear quarter panels need the typical repair. The shock tubes are surprisingly good. The left and right sides of the engine box are rusted. All replacement metal can be purchased thru a number of different shops. The leaky gas tank and the single brake master cylinder were removed and disposed of. We purchased a new red interior kit for the seats, carpet and side panels from National Parts Depot and those items are still in original boxes. The body color is Ford Ragoon Red, the radiator has been repaired and we bought a few engine parts from a NAPA store in 2004. Front and rear bumpers were replaced and are new and still in packaging. The engine, steering column, trans, heater box, wiper motor, dash, glove box, wiring, e-brake and more are all the original from 1965. There are rusty holes in the the corners of the fenders and in the engine box but we are selling all the original parts and body and prefer to sell everything as a package deal and not part it out. The transmission tunnel has good metal, The firewall has good metal except for the passenger side. The engine box on the left and right are bad but the shock towers are great. The radiator wall is OK. The floor boards are rusted through but the doors are good, little rust at the bottom of the windows and the door skins are original. The side window glass is original but not the windshield. Further, we purchased a new interior for the seats and carpet form National Parts Depot in 2005. The parts in the car are original including the seats and seat covers. These same original parts in a catalog or going through trade shows and swap meets will cost more than $2500 The data plate and VIN number match. The trunk lid is in good shape The hood is OK but needs work. The front and rear bumpers are re-chromed. This is an original straight six Mustang convertible.
