Vehicle Detail
Here is a rare 1970 Plymouth Cuda project car. Originally, a 383 4 barrel column automatic with power steering and manual drum brakes. It is a fairly complete project missing the engine and transmission. All body numbers, fender tag & dash tag match. I did not find a broadcast sheet. The door mylar was previously removed. This car will require a full restoration. It is a very worthy candidate. This car was recently pulled from a garage where it had been sitting since 1989. The car was disassembled sometime in the 1980’s and has not been on the road since. This is an original B7 Blue (Jamaica Blue) exterior with B5 Blue interior car. It was painted with a scheme of 3 different shades of blue at some point along the way. Someone also had plans to run it as a drag race car as there has been a minor modification to the rear frame rails to attach some traction bars. This appears to be the only modification done to the car. The frame rails will require repair to bring them back to original. The rest of the frame rails and lower structure of the car are very sound as the car was undercoated. The car had many areas on the upper body that were previously sanded down and left bare metal. I went over the car from the middle body line upward with 80 grit to knock off the surface rust that had accumulated over the years. I sanded most of these areas down to bare metal and then applied a light coat of primer on the upper surfaces. There is some pitting of the metal. However, I was surprised that only one small area on the DS fender top and a few small areas on the tail panel revealed some pin holes. I left the lower sections of the car alone as it was evident that metal repair & replacement will be required. Be advised that I did not do any bodywork. I simply sanded these areas out and applied primer to protect the surface. I expect the car will need to be completely stripped for proper restoration. It will require: new lower quarter panels, trunk floor, trunk lid, rear lower fender patches and a few repairs to the DS inner fender. There is also some rust through in the upper rocker panel on the PS rear in the door jam area and a few small holes in the floor pans. I am certain there will be some additional repairs required once the car is completely torn down. I installed a very nice factory hood and a very nice pair of 1970 doors from an original 440 “U” code Cuda. Also, included is a nice tinted windshield, nearly complete black interior and most of the exterior trim. I also have an aftermarket PS quarter skin, full length floor pans and a new black carpet set that go with the car. I do not have an upper or lower grille, radio or spare tire. Please review the photos closely to see what is included. I believe this will make a very nice car once completed.
