Vehicle Detail

1970 MERCEDES W111 COUPE TOTAL RESTORATION RARE SIX CYLINDER, LOW GRILL, SUNROOF MODEL VIN: 11102412004023 ELECTRIC SUNROOF RE-UPHOLSTERED SEATS IN LEATHER FRONT AND REAR TWO SPARE KEYS RE-FINISHED WOOD AND DASH LEATHER ORIGINAL HEADLINER ORIGINAL DOOR PANELS REBUILT ENGINE REBUILT TRANSMISSION MERCEDES TOOL KIT AND FIRST AID KIT (The original first aid kit is only included for historical reasons not intended for use) STRIPPED TO THE METAL RE-PAINT I purchased this car on eBay in 2002, it was in need of total restoration, I had the car shipped to a Mercedes specialist, he removed the engine and transmission and re-built both, the car was then trucked to the paint shop, windows, sunroof and paint were removed, and the car was totally repainted it's original Mercedes silver, rear lower fenders/wheel arches were replaced with new original metal parts. The front seats were re-upholstered and covered in Mercedes leather, but somehow my upholsterer got the color wrong and used a bright red, but I decided to re-do the rear seats, rear parcel shelf, and the dash in a leather that was as close to the original faded darker red leather color on the door panels, I thought that I would have the front seats re-dyed to match at a later date, that can still be done, but they look so good I left them as is. The chrome around the bottom of the windows and door tops was all re-done. New front and rear window rubber and door rubber seals have been fitted. New three point seat belts were fitted in the front. The car was returned to my warehouse and there it sat for ten years. In January of this year I sent the car back to my mechanic to have it completely checked out, that resulted in another $4,000.00 plus bill for new oil seals, gaskets, wires, full service, replace all fluids etc, and converted the breaker points system to electronic ignition. The car has four wheel disc brakes, new rotors and pads. New whitewall tires were fitted to Mercedes Baroque alloy wheels of the era in March 2012. The car runs and drives very well, and is admired wherever it is parked, but it is not a 100 point show car, but a beautiful daily driver, if you are so inclined. I had intended to keep this car for my own use but I have too many uncompleted projects and not enough space, so my loss is your gain. The car was originally imported from Europe in 1974 by a Mercedes dealer in Santa Cruz California and has spent the past thirty eight years in sunny California Minor paint chips here and there, nothing major, never in an accident. I have added some more photos to show the door shuts etc. ANY INSPECTION INVITED PRIOR TO AUCTION END PLEASE READ THE TERMS OF SALE ABOVE
