Vehicle Detail
We are selling three vehicles for a customer of ours. He is a great guy at 96 years young, a machinist and mechanically oriented individual his whole life who took good care of his cars. Check out my other auctions for those. This is what we know about this vehicle. 1947 Dodge Bros. Pickup. Flathead six, manual trans, both original that we know of. Was fixed up about 15 - 20 years ago. The motor and trans worked fine and were left alone. Repainted at that point, but was originally black. Has sat for some years. Had to put brake fluid in it to get the brakes to work. Being sold as is, with a complete evaluation and look over needed before using. (brake work, checking and changing fluids, greasing zerks, etc.) Tires are old and cracking. Has plywood bed with the metal strips bolted over it. Some rust bubbling up from the roof seam on the outside, see photos. Nothing bad. Cant find any rust holes anywhere! Clean!Newer headlight switch.Heater gauge does not work and a newer one was mounted on dash, seems to work. All other gauges seem to work. Speedo needle has been replaced with a clear piece with arrow drawn with marker.Wipers do not work.Lights and brake lights work.Shifts and runs ok. Sputters a little, could use a tune up, etc. Master cylinder leaks, but still stops at this point.Paint is ok. Running boards look like they were painted with brush, and driver door maybe with a roller? Some dings, etc. No major damage. Leaks some oil and trans oil. Front windshield folds out, very cool. Needs a new headlight dimmer switch. Some interior wear. See photos. Some discoloration and bubbling in glass laminate on side window. Driver side of windshield near center bar at lower spot, has some cracking. Please call for more questions, or come visit the car before bidding. The process will be repeated until the vehicle does finally sell. Please be patient, as we are doing our best to accommodate the owner's wishes and still find the market value. Please don't ask what the reserve is. Bid what you would like to pay. The mileage shows 33,646 but it is more than that I am sure. On Jun-01-12 at 07:19:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Clear good title. Currently registered. On Jun-06-12 at 14:23:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve lowered to $4,600, happy bidding! On Jun-06-12 at 18:09:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I checked into the VIN on this truck. This truck was originally titled with the engine number. The desoto we have on ebay is the same way. However, the desoto has its original engine, so it can be checked. Researched and found that this truck does not have the original motor. So you wont have a match. The serial number is on the door jamb but was not used for the VIN. Some states did the motor number back in the day. I have papers showing numbers over the years of dodge engines starting with T112 like the VIN designation, that could be shown, with a statement of facts form to a motor vehicle dept. They should be familiar with the fact that some early cars used to be titled by engine number in some states.. hopefully. May require a vin verification form as well. The vin on the title, the motor number, would be a 218 or 201 c.i. motor originally. The motor in it now has a number starting with D42 which looks like a 1952 230c.i. Sorry for any confusion.
