Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1965 Mustang Fastback Hot Rod, straight out of 1970! It is not really a "Rat Rod", but more "Under Construction". This means it is not finished, but an in progress, fully functional, driving and running car. Drive it like it is as "A Rat", or finish and have an excellent complete car. I can finish the car to any level you like based on a quote, request, and/or scope of work. I was going to finish and paint, complete with detailed engine compartment dipped in clear coat. I decided if I can sell it for the right money, I'll get something else to play with. It is a real 1965 Fastback. Originally a "T" Code 6 Cyl 3-speed car, black with black and white inrterior. The 6 cyl set up has been gone since the early 70's. Every part of the front and rear suspension has been changed for a complete and accurate 8 cyl set up. Also installed is a beefy 1-1/4 inch front sway bar to keep the ride nice and firm. The motor is a 1965 289 bored .040 over, balanced crank and rods, dual roller timing chain and old school Weiand dual quad tunnel ram with (2) 450cfm Holley's, Headers, and Hilborn scoop. Currently a C-4 automatic from 1965 (fully functional) is in the car. (If the bid reaches over $10,000, I will include a completely restored 1965 Top-loader 4 Speed with a nearly new clutch and pressure plate. Complete with all pedals, hardware, flywheel, Z-bar, linkage, shifter, etc for total conversion.) The dash is converted to an original 1966 Mustang dash with gauges (not idiot lights from 65). The car is right out of the days of "old school" with Traction Bars, Air Shocks, Vintage Aluminum Valve Covers, American Racing Centerline wheels, Rear Fender Flares. (Temporary installation pending formal body work, riveted on...take them off or complete) (Have front too but did not put on.) Modern power front disk brake conversion, March Racing Pulley's, High Voltage Distributor and external coil and coolant overflow bottle. It has a Shelby type fiberglass front valance. Aluminum Racing wing/spoiler. Newer chrome bumpers, lights and bezels, upgraded to Halogen lights. Mustang center and grille are very good with the "star" new. I drive the car on a regular basis without worry. Everyone flocks it when I pull in anywhere. Has complete interior with fold down back seat and center console. (Needs new headliner, carpet, dash pad and door panels.) All pieces parts are there and everything works. Good heater. Comes with a replacement Passenger side One Piece with Sail panel Full Quarter Panel and Full Left and Right heavy gauge Floor pans, which is the only rust damage needing repaired. Clear title and insured value is over $15,000 as is, with an anticipated completed value of over $35,000. Reserve is WAY LESS than the current insured value!!! For around another $8,000 in interior, body and paint, you can most likely completely restore this car to be worth all the money. This car will sell....even with the reserve, so "Bid it to get it!" OPTION: The winning bidder can elect to have the dual quad tunnel ram removed and I will replace it with a brand new Edelbrock Performer Aluminum Intake Manifold and 750cfm New in the box Carburetor. I will also provide a new steel aftermarket hood to replace the one with the hole for the motor. As well, if the winning bidder does not want the rear wing, I have another trunk lid without the drilled holes which I can offer as a replacement instead. These options are of no additional cost or savings. I will swap these items at no cost or savings to the winning bidder. I can assist with any shipping. Average I have seen is about $800 to $1,000 to ship across the country. I shipped a car to LA for $1,000 once, and to the North-East for $800 another. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to discontinue this ad at any time. Car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Complete with Title and SC Bill of Sale. Lugoff, SC 29078 I will post additional picture of the underside showing there is NO RUST on any frame rails , shock towers, or anything else structural. The rust is limited to quarter size holes in various places. The passenger side rear glass has a spot, the sail vent has a spot, and the quarter to door has a spot, hence the replacement panel. These spots could be fixed individually without doing a whole quarter panel, but I have one to do it back complete...and it is included here. The drivers door has 2 small holes in the corners, typical. A newer passenger side door and drivers side fender have been installed prior. I will answer any questions and /or provide any other pics on request. I will respond to questions daily either late in the evening or early the next morning. THANKS FOR LOOKING! On May-27-12 at 07:24:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Pictures have been posted as promised. I can get more, but there is only room here for these, and since I have bids, none can be changed. For the record...This car is not only a "Rat Rod", or "Hot Rod", but a perfectly good candidate for restoration. With the solid structure and completeness, it would not take much to get this back to a "regular" very nice Fastback. As well, for the individual who wants this car to restore rather than the Hot Rod version; included in the bid as noted is the intake and other parts to get the restoration started in that direction. The reserve is low enough to get the car and finish it for any value or level of restoration. Or, get a fun car to tweek and drive around, with all the attention of every car that goes by! On May-28-12 at 07:12:23 PDT, seller added the following information: OPEN TO OFFERS! I HAVE BEEN ASKED ABOUT "BUY IT NOW". IF YOU WANT TO DO A "BUY IT NOW", SEND AN OFFER AND IF I ACCEPT, I WILL REVISE AUCTION TO THE NUMBER ACCEPTED. I DO NOT LIST WITH "BUY IT NOW" AS SCAMMERS HIT "ENTER" AND DO NOT COME THROUGH, COSTING ME LISTING FEES, CANCELLATIONS, ETC. BUT...I WILL ACCEPT OFFERS UNDER THIS FORMAT. THANKS AGAIN AND GOOD LUCK. On May-30-12 at 06:02:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to all the bidders so far! We are getting close. The reserve is less than $10,000 For a complete running, 65 fastback...can it be for real! YES!!! This is not a shell...or missing the motor...or missing the fold down seat...it is probably the least expensive complete running 65 fastback on e-bay! AND, if the bids top $10,000 a toploader transmission, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, shifter and all linkage to complete is included!!! WOW!!! That's a $2,000 value!! It's like getting the car for $8000 and the trans set up for..$2000. Not to mention the $450 quarter panel and $180 floor pans that are also included!!! If you've priced an automatic to manual transmission conversion before, you know these parts are worth well over $2,000. THANKS AGAIN AND GOOD LUCK! I BELIEVE SOMEONE WILL WIN THIS CAR!!!!!!!
